This healthy chunker has since moved in from this plant, to enter its final stage of evolution. This little fella is most likely in the fourth or fifth stage of its life-cycle; which is when their appetites really start to show. Two to three of this crawly critters can defoliate a milkweed plant in a couple of days. That’s bad news for younglings or other species that thrive off the plant, such as Milkweed Tussock Moths.

The spikes pertruding from their backside are called cornicles. When threatened they help disperse a defensive liquid, which is pushed through and secreted from the end of tip.

These garden pest get about a few millimeter in size, with colonies made up of varying stages along their life cycle; ranging from nymphs to adults.

The moon is tidally locked, meaning we constantly see one side of its face; that’s not to say the moon doesn’t rotate though. The lovely celestial object we see most every night, rotates upon its axis. This means the side we do see, is constantly changing position.

I was trying to identify them the last time I was there; they are indeed Eastern Painted Turtles. I previously thought that were Pond Sliders: Red-Eared; the shells vary considerably in shape and they have a red patch as opposed to stripes. Eastern Painted Turtles are often seen basking on logs, rocks and marshy knolls; best known for their vibrant yellow stripes and belly, along with its distinctive red stripes along the neck and legs. You can also see a faint reddish ring around the outer shell.

They’re know for their vibrant orange wings, with the inner wing being a darker shade, covered in black veins, connecting to a black boarder with white spots. Their wingspans average between 3.5in to 4in ( 8.9cm - 10.2cm ), with females having thicker wing veins than the males; males can be distinguished black spot on the hindwing. We obviously spend a lot of time here.

The mature caterpillar when disturbed will adorn an orange forked organ; the osmeterium pops from its head, releasing a foul smelling order to deter predators. Also known as Parsley Worm, these lovely chunky critters transition into The Black Swallowtail Butterfly. This process takes place roughly 10 to 30 days after voraciously feasting on its host plant.

According to my understanding, the orange spot, represents a part of the Nebula with intense heat from energized gas atoms. It could also be caused by Starlight refracting off dust particles, within the Nebula.

My search results claim it’s the “Rho Ophiuchi Cloud Complex”.
