Fanny Seward is on this Lincoln Assassination Tour badge. She was an eyewitness to the savage stabbing of her father, Sec. of State William Seward, & others. She later wrote in her diary of the event, “Blood, blood my thoughts seemed drenched in it—I seemed to breathe its sickening odor.”

I know it’s supposed to be spooky and all, but I find the mini moon guy cute.

Happy Halloween! This is a rare carte de visite produced while John Wilkes Booth was on the run. It shows the outline of the assassin on horseback made from beasts and a devilish hand. The visage of Abraham Lincoln looks on from the clouds. This comes from the collection of the ALPLM. #skystorians 🗃️

An image of two book pages with digital alterations. On the left is a photograph of man wearing a hat, satchel, and carrying an umbrella. Under the man is the caption, “O.H. Oldroyd on a tramping your over the eighty miles of Booth’s flight.” Next to Oldroyd is a videogame sprite of an alley cat. The other page shows a block of text under the chapter title “Narrative of a walk…” The relevant line about cats being present in Baptist Alley behind Ford’s Theatre has been underlined in red.

In 1901, writer & Lincoln collector Osborn Oldroyd walked the escape route of John Wilkes Booth. During his visit behind Ford’s Theatre, he was greeted by some alley cats. Don’t wear down your paws like Oldroyd did. Consider taking a guided Lincoln Assassination Tour by bus instead. #NationalCatDay

“After several years of absence Dave Taylor is renewing the Booth Escape Tour. I can’t think of a better person to narrate this exciting tour... Dave is clearly the leader of a new generation of assassination scholars. Take the tour. You will love it!” - Ed Steers

The painting “Assassination of Lincoln” by Howard Hill (1872). It depicts Abraham Lincoln being carried out of Ford’s Theatre by a sobbing crowd. In the top right is a depiction of John Wilkes Booth and David Herold on horseback with Herold looking off to a vision of his execution and Booth rides full bore into a nest of hellish monsters.
