Health inequalities explored in new report | European Social Survey A new report on the social inequalities of health – based on analysis of the latest European Social Survey (ESS) data – was formally launched this week.

Our latest report on the social inequalities of health is based on analysis of data from rounds 7 and 11 of our #survey.

This new report therefore draws comparisons over the past decade and outlines where #health outcomes and risk factors in 24 countries have improved or worsened.

New panel survey data now available The waves were conducted using a mixed-mode approach from September-October 2024 (wave 1) and November-December 2024 (wave 2).

Data from the first two waves of the web-first panel survey (CRONOS-3) – implemented as part of the Infra4NextGen project – is available.

The #data was collected in 11 countries on each of the themes of the NextGenerationEU recovery plan: digital, equal, green, healthy and strong.

Find out more about our switch to self-completion This split of each participating country’s nationally representative sample will allow for consideration of any mode effects ahead of Round 13 (2027/28), when data will be gathered solely through web and paper self-completion surveys.

We are currently in the process of switching from collecting survey #data via face-to-face interviews to employing self-completion methods.

Round 12 (2025/26) of our #survey will see data being collected by online/postal questionnaires as well as in-person interviews.

Norwegian Support for Ukrainian fieldwork This additional funding will enable the ESS Ukrainian national team to conduct interviews in the country during Round 12 of the survey, due to be fielded in late 2025 and early 2026 across Europe.

Research Fellow Survey Futures aims to assess the quality implications of the most important survey design choices relevant to future UK social surveys.

A Research Fellow is being recruited by @unisouthampton.bsky.social 🇬🇧 to work on the Survey Futures project.

The successful candidate will work on enhancing sampling frames to target respondents from under-represented groups.
