Final release of Round 11 data | European Social Survey
Data from all countries who took part in Round 11 (2023/24) of the European Social Survey (ESS) has been included in the latest release.
You can now view or download data from 31 countries who took part in the latest round of our #survey.
The updated Round 11 (2023/24) #dataset includes Estonia 🇪🇪 and Ukraine 🇺🇦 for the first time, alongside 29 other countries.
All our #data is freely available via our Data Portal.

Since its first round, the European Social Survey (ESS) has included a 21-item measure of ten basic human values shared across cultures, known as the Human Values Scale.
A short article about revising the human values scale has been published by Survey Practice (@aapor.bsky.social 🇺🇸).
The article focuses on testing a new version of the measure developed by the ESS and German Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP 🇩🇪) in collaboration with Shalom Schwartz.

Between two minds: the influence of numerical labels on survey responses in a cross-national study - Quality & Quantity
Previous research highlights the impact of nonverbal cues and visual layouts on respondents’ interpretations and answers to survey questions.
New research published by Quality & Quantity (@springernature.com) assessed the effects of two 11- point answer scales.
The study investigated #data from respondents during Round 8 (2016/17) of our #survey who were randomly assigned scales ranging from 0 to 10 and from − 5 to + 5.

Comparing response behaviours between face-to-face and self-completion modes
A recording of our #webinar on comparing #survey responses in different modes is now available.
The findings indicate that respondents in self-completion modes exhibit more non-differentiation and fewer acquiescent and midpoint responses than in face-to-face modes.
