Mac Deford Condemns Racist Video Shared by the President, Says Abuse of the Office Cannot Be Normalized

“This isn’t politics: this is disgraceful.” “A sitting President of the United States chose to amplify a video that uses one of the oldest racist tropes in American history to demean our nation’s first Black President and First Lady. That’s not satire. That’s not humor. That’s outright degradation, and it stains the office he holds.”

“Leadership means lifting people up — not dragging America back to its ugliest chapters for clicks.” “When the President shares this kind of garbage, dismisses the backlash as ‘fake outrage,’ and hides behind flimsy excuses, he normalizes cruelty. Words and actions from the President set the tone for the entire nation — and this is unacceptable.”

“The presidency is supposed to be bigger than one man’s grievances or impulses.” “It should unite the country, represent our values, and uphold a basic sense of decency. Racism has no place in American politics — and it has absolutely no place coming from the President of the United States.”

When racist imagery comes from the Oval Office, it carries the weight of the nation.

This wasn’t politics. It was an abuse of power. And it deserves to be strongly condemned.

Big update for our February 12 Town Hall! I’m excited to announce that Michael Missal, former Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, will be joining us to talk about why checks and balances matter, why Congress must reclaim its role, and how real oversight works.

Justice grows when the people stand together.

When governments in other countries murder their citizens, we call that tyranny. Congress must put this administration in check and stop its lawlessness.

I served as a federal law enforcement officer. I know the standards. Federal agents murdered Alex Pretti in Minneapolis while he was exercising his First Amendment rights. He was a VA nurse and a U.S. citizen. If Congress defends this, it has abandoned its duty.

As a former law enforcement officer and a father, I’m speaking out.

Detaining five-year olds.
Ignoring court orders.
Terrorizing children.

That’s not who we’re supposed to be.

The facts don’t match the talking points.
Inflation remains high. Manufacturing jobs are falling. Tariffs are raising costs on many individuals and families.

I served in law enforcement to protect people, not intimidate them. What happened to Renee Good was unjustifiable, tragic, and insane. Congress must put this administration in check.

If the U.S. government were serious about combating fentanyl, it would be putting sustained pressure on China and India.

And if Congress were serious, it would stop deferring to slogans and demand a coherent, lawful policy.

These things can all be true: Maduro is a thug. America must lead. And we cannot lead the free world by breaking our own laws and bypassing Congress.

Launching war and pursuing regime change without Congressional approval is blatantly illegal and reckless. It erodes the rule of law and America’s credibility on the world stage. An administration that refuses to invest in healthcare but races into war has its priorities dangerously wrong.

The poll is in. SC01 is in play. And we’re just getting started.

Terrible news out of Washington. Two National Guard members were killed near the White House. Praying for their families and for everyone who serves our country.

A president threatening political opponents with death is not normal. It’s dangerous. We have to call it out.
