You shouldn’t compare your first draft to a published book that would have gone through a few rounds of editing… but *I* should because I must hold myself to high standards.

Just when I think I’m recovering from last week’s The Mighty Nein, Welcome to Derry comes in swinging

when i say i'm "going to bed", i really mean i am going to fantasize about my OCs kissing until sleep eventually stops me

Honestly that and Alchemised being picked up/marketed as being a popular HP fanfic and the former Bachelor star who got a two book deal without even having written any books yet kind of fractured my belief that a good book trumps marketability in the trad pub sphere

Maybe one day I’ll talk about what being approached by an agent, only for them to backpedal on their offer because despite being a “compelling writer” publishers probably wouldn’t want my book after all, did to my confidence and motivation as a writer.

I’ve just finished Act 1 and I’m already so impressed with the story
