It is the definition of woke, which as we know is now "Anything I don't like".

Yep, very disappointed in Ed Davey jumping on this one.

The damage Trump has done to the rest of the world in just over a year is incalculable. Billions wasted, lives lost. Not going to be forgotten.

A reminder that Nigel Farage, Kemi Badenoch and the entire Conservative-supporting press have spent the past week lambasting Keir Starmer for not joining the Iran war.

Here's what has happened since then to public opinion

Very true although I think some of their followers don't even really know why and are just against renewables because the lefties are...

A slightly false choice there - it's possible to protect UK interests while also working to de-escalate - but, still, it's reassuring that only a small minority inexplicably want us to get more involved despite most of the media clearly pushing in that direction.

Yes, I said the other day my guess would be "still right wing but slightly less bonkers", but we'll see!

The weird thing about the Express is it's now part of the same company as the Mirror. At least you can understand the Mail, Telegraph etc are doing the bidding of their owners. It's like they're just phoning it in with whatever criticism they think their dwindling number of readers want to see.

Yes - although most would probably have backed Blair at the time (Tory MPs were more in favour of going in than Labour ones) and only criticised after the event when things went wrong.

It is odd that the RW media are being so vehemently pro-Trump on this when most Conservatives are against him and even Reform are split. Perhaps they aren't even worried about Lab/Lib/Green voters at the moment and are just trying to convince their own side.

It comes to something where even half of Reform voters are against Trump while, looking at the position of Conservative voters, it's hard to see who Badenoch thinks she's trying to appeal to.

I'm not sure they think that far ahead but, yes, you're right...

It is absolute insanity that right-wing politicians in the UK would not only pivot back to fossil fuels but actively sabotage plans for renewables.

Deliberately pursuing an economically damaging policy for ideological reasons; where have we heard that before?

Oh OK thanks for that. We know Jenrick's 'principles' are pretty flexible so I can only assume he's seen which way public opinion is heading. Badenoch, as you say, seems to think X is representative of the public as a whole which explains a lot!

I missed that from Reform? Once again it's hard to see who Badenoch thinks she is trying to appeal to.

Yes, you'd normally assume the sort of outlandish claims he puts out are deliberate lies but, worryingly, he might actually believe them.

Isn't that quite a de-escalation though (assuming it holds)? That would mean the rest of the region could go back about its business again while Iran is left fighting a pretty unequal battle with the US and Israel.

The war is already unpopular, even among some MAGA types. Usually you get the "rally to the flag" first and wars become less popular as reality sets in, so you can only see support for this one continue to drop.

So that's the Mail and the GB News guy failing to buy it. Not sure what Axel's plans are but you'd think they might try to bring the paper slightly closer to planet Earth even though it will no doubt remain right-leaning.

Outside of the Vine pub.

The wonderful Vine aka the Bull and Bladder in Brierley Hill, home of Bathams Brewery. A superb building, great ales and food at very reasonable prices, and absolutely packed on a Wednesday lunchtime. That's how you do it! Cheers 🍻 #beersky

The Brexit tendency seem to be absolutely losing their minds over the government's refusal to get bullied by America into an illegal war.

Quite something from the people who wanted "independence" and to "take back control."

I think he probably would. I never thought I'd make a positive comparison between Johnson and anyone but here we are.

Starmer furious and rightly so. Could you imagine John Major or Theresa May - hell, even David Cameron - behaving like that at a time of national crisis? The Tories have fallen so far so fast.

And Trump's own ranting and raving disproves it.

While at the same time causing an oil price spike which shows why domestic renewable capacity is actually a good thing.

And wars tend to start off more popular and then become less so when reality sets in, so we can only assume opposition will continue to grow.

That hideous bauble from FIFA is now looking, if possible, even more ridiculous than it did before.

That doesn't even make sense. You can't choose your race, but you can choose whether or not to be racist. John Cleese is clearly making his choice.

Extremely bad luck that this happens just as prices were starting to fall - the only plus is it's the end rather than start of winter. It should bolster the case for investing in renewables but those who oppose them for ideological rather than practical reasons won't change their stance.
