Reading the interviews of Gabriel García Márquez and this passage stands out to me, from the 1970s but relevant in this time, that in this era the fight must be for collective happiness, which as he astutely describes, is the only kind of just happiness

Lorraine O'Grady lifted me up with her intellect, her wit, her nerve. This assignment came at a point in my life when I needed it and didn't even know. She was a blessing.

I am saddened to know Lorraine has passed, and I am endlessly grateful to her. She lit flames that will never go out. 🖤

back in the day i spent an hour or so at lorraine o’grady’s apt w/no real idea of who she was ‘cause i was always down to kick it & kept company w/ everybody including people older than me. wish i knew then what i know now so i could have offered praise. may she rest 🕊️🕊️🕊️
