The Final Act of Blood in the Snow is out! I'm super proud of how this final episode turned out and so thankful for this cast that has been so encouraging, enthusiastic, and so easy to work with

Enjoy the finale and figure out if Sanguis Populi have what it takes to challenge the Great Beyond...

Oleander has been knocking it out of the park with Blood in the Snow. I’m incredibly proud and honored to have been apart of it and watch this series come to life. By the time we wake next, Sanguis Populi will enter their final act.

The final episode of Blood in the Snow drops tomorrow, just under an hour for its runtime, and crossing the finish line on the edit was SO satisfying 😌 I'm very proud of it

Movie you've watched more than six times. Hard mode: No Star Wars/Trek, LOTR, or Marvel

I have so many movies I could do this with, but this is the most watched of the decade for me

I have taken a photo exactly like this before the trailers start for every movie I've seen in the last 2 or so years, big or small, I love going to the movies

04.12.2025 20:20 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I still do those scenes, bc sometimes it is the right choice for the narrative, but there only being one thing to engage with for a full 1-2 hours feels so slow. Having multiple important things to engage with just lets players express so much more character than "How do i hit this guy THIS time?"

04.12.2025 16:28 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I would literally rather run 2 action sequences in different locations simultaneously or have like 2-4 other more important objectives than "beat bad guy" active at the same time than a sequence that only asks a singular yes or no question "Do you win, yes or no?" to a larger group.

04.12.2025 16:28 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

My least favorite way to run an action scene in ttrpg is the following scenario:

- The whole 4-6 player party
- 1 big bad guy with a stacked stat block
- One objective: Last team standing

I still gotta run it sometimes, but that's so few things to engage with for so many players

04.12.2025 16:28 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm cooking that up as we speak!!

I planned so much more of this world than I would ever be able to believably put into this game (there's a full continent map) + the players added some really interesting stuff to the world that I was so excited to find a way to tangibly represent on the journey

The only horror I GM'd this year was Slumber, and as good as it was, that was me on the way out of the horror door and when I get back to that fucked up little world it'll be so much more nightmarish...

03.12.2025 22:05 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Taking a year long break from doing horror stuff made me so excited to get back to horror, starting with the editing process of Blood in the Snow. I feel like I've improved so much as a storyteller by taking a year away from my beloved creature features and mystery-thrillers, out of my comfort zone

03.12.2025 22:05 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

World building isn't just lore, it's atmosphere! The people who painted the blaster marks on the walls of the Mos Eisley Cantina did just as much world building as anyone working on the script to a Star Wars project featuring it. They conveyed the dangerous history without exposition packed dialogue

The final episode of Blood in the Snow is gonna be the longest! After that, I can start working on another odd tale that's been weighing on my heart more and more these last few years...

The poster on an all white background has a title, "Actual Plays I Loved". Underneath are listed four thumbnails from actual plays. First is "Blood in the Snow" from Tales Yet Told. The text description is, "oleander...please please please i’m begging you for more. i love the hunt system, and this world is so dark and lovely. your players are so lucky. (β€œall knights eventually die”???? hello???)". Next is Afterlight by Blackwater DnD. It's text description is, "Came out of nowhere and the vibes are immaculate. si knows how to conduct a room as well as an orchestra. damn. these characters are ripping my heart to shreds." Next is Shadows of Gotham, on the Wounded Warrior Project's channel. Its text description is, "okay i couldn’t find a good thumbnail but god damn. this series is so good. edward spence when i catch you. these performances are riveting and life-altering and the theme of the show comes together so nicely." Last is The Chaos Protocol by Transplanar RPG. Its text description is, "are you fucking kidding me. time after time i’m in awe of my friends and the wicked performances they’re pulling off. masterful understanding of the mythos they’re creating. a masterclass in table cohesion. a beautiful cast with devastating journeys ahead. what a dream."

That video of a dude showing The Thong Song MV to his 18 year old cousins is funny, but hes doing more to expand their tastes than anyone mocking them in the comments and making another eye-rolling social media post about how "uneducated and uncultured" the young are. Yes, things are more accessible than ever before, but nothing is curated anymore. This is why curated watchlists, scheduled watch/listen parties, etc. are more necessary now than ever. This is how books survived the lack of marketing. Now everything must survive this way.

Remember to be kind to the youth who've only known algorithms when they don't know a movie or tv show or musical artist from the past

"I knew musicians that never released albums during my lifetime when I was a kid"

MTV played Michael Jackson MVs all August when u were a kid. They dont have that.

Disabled people were one of the first groups targeted by the Nazis.

They coined the term β€œuseless eaters”.

They tested the gas chambers on us.

They knew most people wouldn’t fight to save our lives.

That’s why the President using the R slur is so dangerous.

We’re not expendable
