27 January 1933 | A German Jewish boy, Lutz Ludwig Grünstein, was born in Berlin.
He was deported to #Auschwitz from the #Theresienstad ghetto on 9 October 1944. He was murdered in a gas chamber after selection.

Leaving aside the personal for a moment (I have Facebook for that), I learned more from her about being a scientist than from anyone else. A few insights:
- Be wary of scientific fads; find a spot where the grass is less trampled.
- The clinic needs scientists and the lab needs physicians. (2/5)
When my mother passed away late Dec, I lost not only a parent but the one who guided me into science. A paediatric nephrologist who had an entire children’s hospital built, and a cellular physiologist whose exploration of salt balance spanned from kidney to 🧠, she was the consummate MD-PhD. (1/5).
