In the detail this is all as bad as it sounds, if not worse. At every level—from the ICE myrmidons rounding up people to meet quotas to the tech companies directing them to “target-rich” environments—the effort was to round up bodies and get paid. And to tell cover stories or sheer lies to justify.

BuzzFeed Nearing Bankruptcy After Disastrous Turn Toward AI Three years after its pivot to AI, the writing is on the wall for BuzzFeed. The company said there's "substantial doubt" it can keep going.

Self-own of the decade: BuzzFeed pivots toward AI slop, loses everything.

BREAKING: The Senate has passed the biggest housing affordability bill in 30 years, and it includes a ban on investors buying single-family homes.

The bill passed 89-10.

4. Generally speaking I am much more concerned about what humans will do to each other with AI than I am about what some theoretical future super-AI-gone-rogue will do to us. We are already using AI for war, mass surveillance, and life or death decisions. Adoption is accelerating. The crisis is here

My husband and | just received 13 traffic violations in the mail 2 of them were from STOP SIGNS.
IS THIS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE IN DC?!??
Is there a lot of success in getting these things cancelled?! We just moved here and have been going with the flow of traffic! This is INSANE
$1500 worth of infractio

i can't stand nextdoor but i think it's fascinating that out of 137 commenters about 120 are like "yeah it sucks to drive in dc" and the handful remaining are patiently explaining that the one weird trick to not getting tickets is to stop driving like an asshole

So it's been amazing to see all the rent relief fundraising. Absolutely incredible. But it gets to me that the end result of all this is the money goes to line landlord pockets. And yes families stay housed. That's vital. But it's all of us every day regular degular citizens sacrificing for it.

If the Dems who win in the 2026 midterms get squeamish about prosecuting this administration, we'll need to elect a bunch of new people running on Nuremberg shit for 2028. This isn't a joke. It's the law. It's justice. Biden let Trump back in the WH and this happened because Joe didn't do his job

How to Talk to Someone Experiencing 'AI Psychosis' Mental health experts say identifying when someone is in need of help is the first step — and approaching them with careful compassion is the hardest, most essential part that follows.

What do you say to someone who believes their chatbot has unlocked the keys to the universe? I talked to mental health experts who are following the 'AI psychosis' issue closely to find out: www.404media.co/ai-psychosis...

it turns out that the answer to the headline here is: like humans. listen. don't judge, but don't endorse the beliefs, either.

as my friend wisely said: “There's value in having friendships where it's like, ‘I love you, but also, you're full of shit.’” www.404media.co/ai-psychosis...

yes, it's people who have extracted value from ai vs. people who have only seen it extract value from them. i don't think people who have been exploited owe any grace to those evangelizing it to them, which is why i wish enthusiasts would leave the skeptics alone and stop acting like the underdogs

We couldn't even get all of our *Democrats* to support ending this. This nation is sick.

Bye bye Kristi Noem!

I’m glad to see Kristi Noem gone, but no matter which one of Trump’s cronies is running DHS we still need to stand strong, fight back against this authoritarian regime, and hold Noem accountable. Abolish ICE.

Just realized that with Abolish ICE at +11, it's polling over 30 percentage-points ahead of Trump approval. Guess that means if the media wants to be representative, it should give at least like 40% more airtime to people who support abolishing ICE to Trump supporters

There's been a lot of debate within the Democratic establishment about what rhetoric to use via ICE.

Well, an incumbent doesn't lose by 48 percentage points very often—and her vote on collaborating with ICE was the defining issue here.

China’s 450km/h bullet train is the fastest ever built Dart between Beijing and Shanghai in under four hours, with airline-like business class comfort.

China is testing a train that will go 280mph, making it the fastest conventional train in the world.

The US can't get its shit together to build a single new line.

I have seen a lot of cursed stuff in my time in academia but this is among the *most* cursed.
Grammarly is generating miniature LLMs based on academic work so that users can have their writing ‘reviewed’ by experts like David Abulafia, who died less than two months ago.

When the sun is in my eyes, I pull over and take a walk until I can safely see again.
(Can be sunset or when sun goes below marine layer)
