One group of fiends is putting a parent into hospice. Another is dealing with potentially having to put a parent into a long-term care home for dementia patients. And I don't even know what's going on with my father anymore.

I'm looking around at what's going on with me and my friends, and it appears to be our generation's turn to go through the death or degeneration of their parents.

There's philosophy *of* math, but there's also philosophy of language more generally. There's a philosophy for just about every topic you could imagine. Because philosophy is basically "thinking about a topic without actually practicing it". A philosopher of math need not be a mathematician.

How would math be philosophy?

What about "2+2=4" is more philosophical than "the cow is in the field"?

"Mathematically describable" is one of the most useless deepities. Mathematics is a set of languages, with each system of math essentially forming a dialect. They're incredibly precise languages, but still languages.

Call something "describable using English" and see how impressive it is.

I can understand asking people to wear something identifying they want to opt-out of direct "scares". But it really should be free unless you want to keep it for life.

In the zombie apocalypse, you want highly accurate, semi automatic, firearms (before you eventually replace them with polearms & crossbows as the industry required to produce gunpowder comes to an end and reserves dwindle). Not fully automatic, or even burst-fire weapons.

No significant portion of the economy is "propped up by AI". Even the large corporations that are currently going "all-in" on AI are not depending on AI to make money, they are spending money on AI hoping it will pay off in 5 to 10 years.

AI is contributing nothing to anything right now.

Why did they green-screen in sound tiles? Like... of all the backgrounds you could use, sound absorbent foam is what you went with?

For me, acknowledging that the medicine has different effects on different people, gaba was the least bad anti-epileptic I was prescribed. Keppra was the worst, then Depakote, then Gabapentin. That said, its side effects were still worse than the symptoms it was intended to treat.
