On Feb. 9, 1709, 5-year-old John Wesley was miraculously "plucked from the burning," an event that would change the Methodist leader's whole life.
Certainly, on this date 316 years ago, Samuel and Susanna Wesley were still thanking God for saving their son Jacky. Two days earlier, on Feb. 9, 1709, the boy, known to us as John, was rescued from their burning home.
