I've tried two Arch based distros. Endeavour and Cachy. Both KDE flavored. Both great. Cachy had the edge for me though. Just felt a tad bit more polished.

Omarchy is a bit too keyboard first and minimal ui for my tastes. As a dev I feel very at home in KDE.

In Denmark homelessness is straight up illegal. You get put in jail if you sleep on the street. You then get put on a program to get you out of the situation and given housing.

I remember before the municipality here made the bus free, they said that they were already covering almost 8-90% of the expenses. So it was already not such a big jump. I guess we just like paying taxes. Maybe because we get something for our taxes.

I used to live in Copenhagen, Denmark. The danish government pays 66% of the expenses for public transport there. There are a few municipalities trialing some free bus lines.

I now live in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands.

Talinn, Estonia and the whole of Luxemburg have free public transport.

The public transport infrastructure gets maintained by just being on the municipal budget. But I'm from northern Europe and we like paying taxes.

The issue here is of course that Americans don't want to pay taxes like all other civilized countries do, so you're just fucking yourselves over here.

I know free transit sounds like some socialist idealist bs that doesn't work, but I can just promise you that it does. It means more people in public transport and fewer people in cars. Children and poor people get to hop around town easily. It's just universally great for all tax payers.

Oh I can help here. I happen to live in a town where public transit is free of charge to riders. Doesn't mean it's free. It gets paid through municipal taxes. Ridership went up two or three fold when they introduced it. No issues.

Rent control and free transit are not economically comparable.

X started out as a big tent, as just because of it's sheer size it managed to hold on to enough of the big tent people, while Bsky never was able to make a big tent.

Earlier this year my sense was that X was in a downward death spiral into a far right echo chamber. Turns out that didn't happen. People are still disagreeing and having fun there.

However Bsky has now all but completed it's death spiral into a far left echo chamber.

They're absolutely not on Bsky. The angry perfectionist far left wasps chase them off as soon as they dare say something moderate or critical of the left.

They are somewhat on X. Turns out the far right enjoy being disagreeable assholes, so they kinda like that there's someone to disagree with.
