it's not so much the length of queen west so much as the fact that dundas is just north of queen, and college is just north of dundas. it creates a density of -stuff- that is absent here bc our main streets only have commercial blocks, they're not high streets

the only proper commercial high streets are broadway and kingsway! this seems to be an intentional planning choice.. even big upzones like the cambie corridor plan just added more residential and didn't throw commercial in the mix

there are a lot of things that are better about vancouver but ngl i really miss the long commercial streets from back home
