magnificent. this should become automatic whenever an area plan is passed, imo. it doesn't make sense to pass a plan and then require site specific rezonings for each parcel. just align the zoning to existing policy and be done with it

what if I told you that taking accountability for your actions was traditionally considered a load-bearing feature of masculinity?

Fellow millennials I have a request: don't.

Like don't do this. We saw the avocado toast memes. We were mocked for how lazy, spoiled and entitled we were. Do you remember the jokes about being special snowflakes and participation trophies?

PLEASE DON'T DO THIS TO THE NEXT GENERATION.

the BC Conservatives melting down is the greatest show on earth and it's almost enough to make me want to re-register on the other site. (then i read the comments on basically any post)

We deserve a government that is stable, thoughtful, and predictable.

What we’ve got with Ken Sim and his enablers in ABC is a political roller coaster.

Instead of leadership, performance and politics.

During the initial ABC motion the city manager said 1% is roughly equivalent to 12M in revenue, so 7% (which is what he requested to keep the lights on) is about $84M - that's the fiscal hole. Maybe an additional $15M in 'pressures'?

These guys are going to fire a bunch of bureaucrats without having first reduced the amount of bureaucracy they manage. Seems less than ideal for a government so focused on permitting times.

So yeah. Are there 500 middle managers to fire? I doubt it - you still need some. So instead they're going to go after non-management exempt staff.

paul mochrie made $387,110, so call it $450k for total comp cost (did he get the pension plan? idk but let's assume yes and with a 10% contribution). 300k per manager seems REAL high.

Vancouver could see 'real impacts on service levels' with budget-tightening: Internal memo Vancouver residents could see a reduction in services as a result of city council's direction to tighten the budget, an internal memo says.

the last guy was pretty clear that cuts even half this deep would have an impact on service levels.

this guy was hand-picked by ken sim and ran with the bc liberals in skeena. doesn't change the reality of cuts but might change willingness to discuss them

I'll be honest, I simply don't believe you can cut $100M out of the budget by firing a bunch of managers

Matt Walsh: Horrific. The whole thing. Pope Leo blesses a block of ice and then stands there while these communist freaks do some kind of weird pagan Earth worshipping hippy ritual. The leader of the Catholic Church shouldn’t be anywhere near this nonsense. What the hell are we doing here

Far-right Catholics freaking out about the Pope doing normal Pope things will always be entertaining.

The Pope blessed some water? Can you even imagine?

It was a pretty close thing in fairness, I think he had to trade a lot of horses. It was overall a really strong performance it just underperformed their pre-carney expectations of a hyper majority

This is kind of wild from the outside. When a Canadian party leader loses an election they either credibly present a plan to win the next one or resign/get pushed out. See: Bonnie crombie

That woman isn’t old… the crimes at residential schools were really not that long ago. “In living memory” doesn’t really cover it if it was happening in the 70s, you know?

There’s a speed limiter on these things that caps them at 32kph - I think that’s technically speeding in some of the school zones here with a 30kph limit but that’s about it

i think that moderate language undersells how truly radical this is. he's cutting $100 million from the budget without even asking what will be cut. desperation move from a desperate mayor. actually crazier than anything ford did short of the criminality
