Couldn’t agree more re: Heaslip, an absolute benefactor of good ‘marketing’. Decent player no doubt but 100% Fanny for sure.
He was undoubtedly very good for a year or two and def thrived under Joe Schmidt’s ultra cautious approach but like that system, got figured out by the end and probably should have gone a little bit earlier. Conan is a 6 test Lion so there’s just no comparison in terms of ability though.
I thought his behaviour was pretty bad in the end - he didn’t have to go into the competitive craw thumping that he did. Some of the things he said about feeling Irish and living in Limerick seem pretty lame when he got the first plane outta here - a lot of people didn’t like that - me included.
JC absolutely needs to get his kicking shit together (I suspect that self confidence is a massive part of this) but it’s fking hilarious to hear a guy say that he should “rip up the script” when all we’ve been hearing for 18mths is that he needs to “stick to the system” more. WTF??
