I honesty don’t understand the whole “modernization” thing. The only games that need an “update” are broken and/or unfinished ones. Yet only the classics get that treatment. There is no logic there other than, “new thing good.” It seems to me that the medium of games is subjected to this the most.

Honestly I think that a lot of games are designed with that in mind. Let’s call it “player choice.” RPGs, open world, and of course CAGs. I could say it’s for accessibility reasons, but I’m sure plenty of developers genuinely like it.
