Good morning from Aberdeen station where today I’ll be taking the longest direct train journey in the UK. 40 stops and just over 13 hours

Getting myself some HST action…

First leg of my railway trip, Craven Arms to Crewe. Traveling along the Welsh Marches must be one of the most scenic routes in the country. I wasn’t expecting to get a 67 hauled service but after the chaos of the last couple of days I was just glad there was a train for me to get on!

Ah, the class 153. A box on wheels, uncomfortable, ugly yet for some reason I absolutely love them. No idea why. This isn’t a cry for help….honestly…..

There is nothing I love more in the world than spending a day watching cricket

Good to get out with the telescope again. Bode’s galaxy, Blue Oyster Nebula, Cigar Galaxy and Owl Nebula all showing well even though my pictures don’t do them justice.
Slightly regretting the late night now though….

Booked my next railway trip - a journey from Aberdeen to Penzance. 13+ hours on Britains longest direct train route.
Thought I’d better get in there before it’s axed later on in May….

I made everyone wait until it went so I could hear the engine. I love the sound of the diesel engines.

Went for a walk to get out and try some new lenses, got some nice scenery and some nice pics of Stokesay Castle but the highlight was definitely walking home through the fields to find a Class 37 loco (well two of them) at a stop signal. Shame the trees were in the way!

As seen from the Moon by the Blue Ghost lander, the Earth eclipsed the Sun. Here the Sun emerges from eclipse and we get a "diamond ring" effect with the first bright flash of the emerging Sun.

Feels like it’s been a long week so decided I needed some retro game goodness

Got up early to see this mornings lunar eclipse. Only thing I saw was a think layer of cloud. Great.

Took advantage of the nice weather and a free afternoon to look at the sun. Some good sunspots and granulation visible today.
