This morning I wrote to 17 Pride groups to say we’ll proceed with their request for a motion to support the Human Rights Code.
Every MLA who supports the Code should vote to defend it.
We need to stand up for human rights, not give ground to those who would take them away.
My colleagues and I are standing in solidarity with our labour community @bcfed.bsky.social, this bill is unacceptable and our governing caucus will never entertain such anti-labour legislation.
Last week, the Conservatives introduced a bill that would scrap Project Labour Agreements and Community Benefit Agreements. This is an attack on fair wages, safe working conditions and the skilled union workforce that builds and maintains our province’s public infrastructure.

On June 1, 2026, minimum wage in BC will go up to $18.25 an hour. BC’s minimum wage was once one of the lowest in the country and is now one of the highest.
These regular, gradual increases provide certainty for workers and predictability for businesses.
