South Fork Skagit River Estuary, taken yesterday. For over twenty years now, efforts have been underway to restore portions of this estuary so that juvenile salmon have better rearing grounds before venturing out into the ocean. These efforts benefit many species (e.g., orcas, eagles, etc.).

For those people that have never seen or noticed anticrepuscular rays, they are often subtle. Look slightly off to the side of the antisolar point, and give your eyes time to see them. Sometimes they are less subtle. I suspect that being almost 9,500 feet high may have helped with this image.

Sunset from the east rim overlook on Steens Mountain, Oregon. Images taken on 7/8/2013. First image looks west at the sunset, while second image looks east over the Alvord Desert. That second image shows anticrepuscular rays (converging on the antisolar point) and the earth's shadow.

Flagstaff Point, Kukutali Preserve State Park Heritage Site, Washington, in false color infrared. Taken on 6/2/2017, with a Nikon D800 camera that was infrared converted to 590nm. I remember this day vividly, due to the amazing cloud formations. Sometimes you just luck out.
