For colour Ive also been doing a lot of painting from life the last two years. I realized that a lot of things are actually subtle variations of grey :)) This allows a nice cohesion, and you can then push contrast in your focal point. I recommend trying it! Hope this helps :))
Thank you so much! My paintings improved once I started understanding values a bit more. I did a bunch of 2-3 value studies, from masters and from life. And then I just attempted my own works and failed a bunch of time (and still do)
