The UAW officially has tentative agreements with all of the Big Three automakers and they include some some huge wins. Now, the deals make their way to the membership for ratification votes. I dug into the details here.

Our members deserve a contract that values the work they do, the role they play in their communities, and the expertise they bring to the field.

We will continue to fight for the contract our members deserve!

Our members deserve a contract that provides wage increases that keep up with inflation.

Our members deserve a contract that allows them to afford to live in the City they are REQUIRED to live in for the first ten years of their employment.

They want us to accept 5.5% over 3 years when the cost of shelter rose 7.2% in the last year alone.

According to NBC News, the current overall rate of inflation in Massachusetts is 3.6% with a core inflation rate of 4.1%.

The cost of shelter rose 7.2% in the last year.

At this time, the City of Boston and BPL management have offered our bargaining unit 5.5% raises over 3 years. This would be accompanied by $250 base wage increases for the first two years and a $500 base wage increase in the third year.

The proposals put forward to us, especially in regards to our salary increases, showed a deep disrespect for the work that PSA members do.

We are disappointed to share that we were unable to reach an agreement with the City of Boston and Boston Public Library Management at our bargaining session on Friday, October 13th.

After a disappointing bargaining session last Friday, our countdown goes on. Eighteen days of PSA membership working under an expired contract when what they deserve is a fair, updated contract that meets their needs.
