These past 33 days have shown us more than ever how important it is to know that your work is valued and protected. As we head into our sixth bargaining session tomorrow, we hope the City and BPL management will be on the same page as us. #library #union #libraryunion #boston
02.11.2023 23:30 β π 6 π 5 π¬ 0 π 0The UAW officially has tentative agreements with all of the Big Three automakers and they include some some huge wins. Now, the deals make their way to the membership for ratification votes. I dug into the details here.
30.10.2023 21:28 β π 168 π 53 π¬ 2 π 10We meet with the Cityβs representatives and BPL management again this Friday, November 3.
Be sure to wear red to show your support for our bargaining team!

Our members deserve a contract that values the work they do, the role they play in their communities, and the expertise they bring to the field.
We will continue to fight for the contract our members deserve!
Our members deserve a contract that provides wage increases that keep up with inflation.
Our members deserve a contract that allows them to afford to live in the City they are REQUIRED to live in for the first ten years of their employment.
They want us to accept 5.5% over 3 years when the cost of shelter rose 7.2% in the last year alone.
30.10.2023 22:56 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0According to NBC News, the current overall rate of inflation in Massachusetts is 3.6% with a core inflation rate of 4.1%.
The cost of shelter rose 7.2% in the last year.
At this time, the City of Boston and BPL management have offered our bargaining unit 5.5% raises over 3 years. This would be accompanied by $250 base wage increases for the first two years and a $500 base wage increase in the third year.
30.10.2023 22:56 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0The proposals put forward to us, especially in regards to our salary increases, showed a deep disrespect for the work that PSA members do.

We are disappointed to share that we were unable to reach an agreement with the City of Boston and Boston Public Library Management at our bargaining session on Friday, October 13th.

Our members have been working for over three weeks under an expired contact. They show up and give their best to the Boston community every day, without the promise of raises, better benefits, and more. When you see a PSA member, thank them for remaining committed to their role! #library #union

After a disappointing bargaining session last Friday, our countdown goes on. Eighteen days of PSA membership working under an expired contract when what they deserve is a fair, updated contract that meets their needs.

Hereβs hoping we can make 13 our lucky number today as we head back to the bargaining table with the City and library management. Our members deserve a fair contract and we are working hard to deliver it for them!

We're 11 days overdue on our contract, which could have been avoided if the City had scheduled with us when we requested to bargain 5 months ago! We hope the City of Boston and BPL management come ready to get a fair contract for members at our bargaining session this Friday.
