The bird's head, back and tail are dark with white streaking and just a bit of white belly showing. He/she does not look to be in a hurry. The background is blurred and foggy as it was very foggy that day.

The back and tail appear somewhat dark in the shadows, but the bird's round lemon-yellow belly is visible as is its rust-colored cap. There are also rust-colored streaks on its chest. The background is blurred foliage.

This Palm Warbler from last month at #AnahuacNWR is the most borb-ish I have to offer from my recent photos. It's not as round as @jon5cents.bsky.social's great offerings, but it will have to do!

The bird has now retracted its neck and is much lower to the ground among the reeds and grasses. It is much better camouflaged now, but still sticks out a bit against a background of blue pond water.

An American Bittern, a medium-sized heron, stands among the reeds and grasses on a pond trying to blend in. The long neck is fully extended and the brown streaking on its neck helps it to blend in. The problem is that the bird is much taller than the surrounding grass so it really stands out. Its head is turned to its right.
