Don’t go to the hospital in July - unless you want an eager, fresh-brained doctor willing to listen and learn all about you and your disease.

Every single ad on my facebook feed is beef tallow, bone broth, beef chips, & other animal products...I block every one & share vegetarian content frequently...but they keep finding more companies pushing the idea that beef products are the answer to our nations health problems. It is ridiculous

Even in Iowa, I live in a very blue bubble. People are so entrenched that admitting one is wrong is not going to come easily. The propaganda machine on the right is extremely powerful.

Elie Wiesel, author of Night and a Holocaust survivor, spoke to us on my first day at Centre College.

His words will forever resonate with me, particularly now.

"We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.”

Text: Most states with abortion bans are years behind in reviewing maternal deaths. ProPublica surveyed 18 states with the most restrictive abortion laws. Table with columns divided into "State" and "Year currently viewing." Texas and Kentucky are reviewing 2021; Mississippi, Alabama, Oklahoma, Arkansas, South Carolina, Missouri, Louisiana are reviewing 2022; Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, West Virginia, Indiana, Tennessee are reviewing 2023; and there was no response for Florida, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Maternal mortality review committees in states that have recently imposed strict bans on abortion have done little to determine whether the laws are contributing to maternal deaths, a ProPublica investigation shows.

Currently Iowan - and not from Iowa City btw - the brain drain is underway. Incredible physician shortage here and the people voting red seem to have no idea the extent to which their vote is at their own peril.

Meta-analysis of loneliness among individuals with dementia: the estimated prevalence of loneliness was 42.7% (95% CI 33.8–51.5%, I² = 90.4, P < 0.001) among individuals with dementia.

1- Around 43% of people living with #dementia (PLWD) experience loneliness.

Not surprisingly, living alone and having depression put PLWD at even higher risk of loneliness.

Loneliness also predicted conversion from MCI to dementia.

The US leads wealthy nations in maternal mortality. Homicide is a leading cause of death for pregnant ppl. The NIH just defunded key research on the nexus of domestic violence/maternal mortality

Really want to emphasize the person responsible for this—RFK Jr—is an alleged sexual assailant

My dear friend’s niece, who in October developed sepsis when a Georgia hospital refused her a D&C after a miscarriage, will be taken off life support tomorrow.

I don’t know the names of the countless others who have suffered and will suffered because of anti-abortion laws.

But her name was Haley.

🧵"So this is how liberty dies..."

Trump’s first 3 weeks have been a relentless flood of actions. It's incredibly hard to keep up.

I’ve gone through 69 actions & mapped out the pattern - showing how they fall within 5 broad domains consistent with authoritarian states 1/9

Don’t Buy a Tesla. Sell Your Tesla. Refuse a Tesla at the Rental Counter. Yes—It Will Help. Elon Musk’s car company is in a precarious spot.

Tesla's stock is ridiculously overvalued, and even a modest consumer boycott could tank the company, which accounts for the majority of Elon Musk's wealth.
