It's funny browsing news and seeing headlines about "sparking" debate/panic/backlash or whatever. Dead giveaway it's AI writing. I remember back when Twitter first starting floating AI trending topics, literally every topic was something "sparking debate." Every one. AI still slopping the same now.

I just had my "won the lottery" moment. Playing RE9, I found the Organ Transplant Box, and just fiddling with the controls on it, I managed to open it on my very first attempt - BEFORE ever finding the note that tells you how to open it. If you've played RE9, you know how absolutely BONKERS that is.

I'm kinda relieved to hear that. I have been feeling guilty about the prospect of writing a letter that isn't super "from the ground up" original, because it's been drilled into my head throughout my academic career that you gotta stand out to get picked. Only so much originality in me, I guess. :)

Writing reference letters is hard. I wonder if other academic faculty get to the point where they just kinda retrofit previous letters onto new students' letters and then customize them a bit from there. Because legit after having written 10-15 letters, I'm struggling to stay original lmao.

Yeah. Part of the messiness is underexplained mechanics. Ex. the [ground] parry is directional, so you can only parry if you're facing an attack, but unlike or parry or die games like Sekiro, there's no lock-on, so you have to micro-reposition while timing your parry press. Just extra bits of jank.

I finished the heck out of it. It was really hard! Too hard, I thought! But it was impeccably designed, so that difficulty felt fun and rewarding to me. This game so far though. Yikes.

There's more but I don't want to diatribe at you. So, I get your point. Bang your head against a wall enough and eventually you'll break through. I've played literally every souls game multiple times. I'm familiar with "live, die, repeat." For me, this game's mechanics just feel messy and overtuned.
