everyone is going to be assigned Deleuze and Guattari readings until we figure out what is going on
With some really cool panels accepted, we open our call for papers. This does not include just traditional papers to open panels. We also invite flash talks (shorter presentations to initiate conversation) and writeshops (an opportunity to dive in and develop own work during the conference).
We've been working hard to rethink how academia could work in more equal and just ways. One of those ways has been this protocol for collective publishing. Really proud of it and of the discussions that led to it!
For anyone seeing this, deadline was extended until 9th of March, so you still have time to apply! I am myself convening an open panel on microbial niches and a M&D session on methods for research of aquatic environments.

I will give a lecture on imaginaries of care in conservation and restoration of aquatic ecosystems next April in Oslo and staying around for the whole week. This is part of the Science Studies Colloquium Series at the Centre for Technology, Innovation and culture. First visit to @uio.no, excited!
FYI, Academia.edu has changed its terms of service to give an irrevocable worldwide license for anything uploaded to its site to be used for generative AI. I do not consent to this and have pulled all my papers.
Im German and mirrored, have little idea of what's going on except for seeing your name on the cover and a heart, reminding me of the organs in your thesis. Is this your dissertation? Or did you turn it into a book? In any case congrats!
Yes in thunder. My syllabus statement:
No, these are very serious comments.
ChatGPT has absolutely no goddamn place in graduate education. It steals from other authors, routinely gets major facts wrong, hallucinates sources, and generally makes the prose flat and boring as hell.
And if you shill for it in my mentions, I'll block you.
wikipedia turns 25 today! the last unenshittified major website! backbone of online info! triumph of humanity! powered by urge of unpaid randos to correct each other! somehow mostly reliable! "good thing wikipedia works in practice, because it sure doesn't work in theory" - old wiki adage

We have a conference next year and the call for panels and sessions just opened! Might be the first conference in SSH to focus exclusively on microbes (to my knowledge?) Broad and niche at the same time, fun!
Also, our keynotes are the fantastic @charlottebrives.bsky.social and Steve Hinchliffe.
A great opportunity to spend some time with a dynamic and thoughtful team. I loved my time with CSSM as a Visiting Fellow in 2023, which led to long lasting collaborations and friendships. Go for it!

Apoya a UNRWA.

I think BlueSky is finally moving in towards what Twitter was at its peak. Interesting content & debate without forgetting the funny comments that make everything somewhat bearable. All of that without an algorithm to sink you into doomscrolling. Please @bsky.app don't force algorithmic feeds on us!
