Just set out on this adventure, and it's a promising start. The cover called to me, and it's an author I so often enjoy.

In common with all the other books by Anne Tyler that I've read, I'm thoroughly enjoying The Beginner's Goodbye. Moving, enthralling, and thought-provoking, I feel as though I've met Aaron and Dorothy personally. They are becoming friends and I will miss them.

On the train travelling back from a weekend away and I've just finished The Lost Passenger by Frances Quinn. It was the perfect book to take with me. I've thoroughly enjoyed all her novels, and this one was no exception. Great characters and a compelling story well told @franquinn.bsky.social

The Frozen People by Elly Griffiths. Not totally sure about it at the moment, to be honest, but I'm sticking with it.

Only a few chapters into Death in the Dordogne but enjoying it so far. It feels like a cheeky little trip to France in term time πŸ™‚

It has been my great pleasure to read March by Geraldine Brooks this week. A moving and enlightening read, clearly well researched and closely linked to one of the books that inspired me to become both a teacher and a writer. This story will stay in my thoughts for a long time.

You'll have a great time! Since Lockdown, I've only travelled by train and slow-travelled my way to various European destinations. It's been fabulous - meeting people, speaking/hearing languages, experiencing cultures, appreciating the geography of the places. So much better πŸ™‚

It turns out you’re never too old to go Interrailing around Europe | Phil Mongredien Having missed out in my youth, I thought that was that – until I took a revelatory trip with my sons. We’re going again this year, says Guardian Opinion production editor Phil Mongredien

Having given up flying for ecological reasons and discovered the considerable joys of slow travel across Europe by train, this article resonates with me. If they found a green way to fly, I wouldn't be tempted now. Train is a far more enriching experience. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

The Yellow Dog by Georges Simenon. I always enjoy a Maigret story, and it's just the thing after my recent holiday in France.

Learning to Swim by Clare Chambers. It's completely drawn me in. So many details in those early chapters that resonate. I find myself making predictions and, in a way, I'm desperate to know whether I'm right. On the other hand, I want to savour every step of the journey because the writing is a joy.

I haven't read that, so I'll take a look. Jogging along, with the twists and turns you'd expect in the journey we're on, but basically okay, thanks. Glad school's out for two weeks - I'm ready for the break! I hope all is well with you and yours.

What a fantastic book The Other Side of the Bridge is. Mary Lawson is a truly wonderful writer. I've been intending to read her work for a few years and am so glad to be doing it now. I can't put it down but will be sad when it's done.
