“Snake, don't worry about it. There's more to being a good person than just having a stereo television. You can do it just the way you are!”
A pep talk for those with 14" portable CRTs and a mono speaker.
I can now say with sheer confidence that of the 3 movies that Winnie the Pooh shorts were attached to, ISLAND AT THE TOP OF THE WORLD is the best one.
In the mail today!
Some of the few live action movies Walt produced that I don’t consider garbage.
I have awesome co-workers.
In the mail today!
Next two days are gonna be busy, so I’m watching a highly regarded movie before I call it a night: Z.
Eyeing on maybe watching The Wages of Fear later this week too if I need another goodie.
It’s pretty obvious with the framing and deliberate pacing that was the intention. If you’re someone like me, a moment like this hits hard even after all these years later, despite all the ups and downs.
Perhaps the best moment of the last epsiode of Sailor Moon: the inner senshi getting to say goodbye to the audience that grew up with them over the last 5 years.
Here’s hoping I don’t miss its’ 30th anniversary next year.
They might of changed the ending of the manga, but they do what all good adpations do: keep the intentions anyway and express it in a way that still shares and underlines the importance of the point of it all.
It’s also probably the finale that emphasizes the strengths of the original creative decisions the Toei crew made the brightest.
While it’s not the best episode of the show (there are countless S and SuperS episodes that aim higher and accomplish much more), it’s probably the one that means the most to me (some of it for personal reasons).
Casually rewatching the last episode of Sailor Moon since I forgot about its’ anniversary last month.
In the mail today.
Hunkered down and got the exit assessment draft finished and submitted. Now to hope it’s good enough for the faculty.
Today is Frank Tashlin's birthday, an underrated cartoon director making hits, both animation and live action. This is his only complete Bugs Bunny cartoon and he nailed the character first try and made me wish he stuck around to do more shorts.
Cartoon: "The Unruly Hare" (1945, Frank Tashlin)
Letting all on Blu Sky that I’m currently working on my exit assessment for my Masters. Things are going smoothly, but a lot of work still needs to be done. Wish me luck. Once this is done and my last class is passed, I have my Masters and can hopefully start posting regularly again.
Happy late V day to me. I guess.
Man I’m feeling very happy I nabbed the Discotek BR of Gunbuster when I did.
News like this is what gets someone like me to wake up in the morning.

Days like this, all I can do is quote Dr. Seuss.
“Be patient. We’ll see. We’ll see…”
Today is a very good day to not be on the Internet.
Mostly animated by the great Manny Gould!
40 years ago today, the first episode of Dragon Ball, “Bulma and Son Goku” premiered in Japan.
Special shoutout too towards IT’S TOUGH TO BE BIRD. It should say something that’s the only 70s Disney animated project (that I’m aware of) that won an Oscar for anything.
Everything else I’ve seen so far is either a mediocre western or dog picture that evokes the standard 50s Disney was aiming for or comedy that’d make you question if anyone under the age of 40 worked on.
