We had a stellar canvass launch followed by great conversations with voters in Norfolk’s 94th District. Key issues today: taking care of our veterans, protecting Medicaid & SNAP, safeguarding reproductive rights, and supporting public education.

Early voting starts on Friday!

Proud to share that I was nominated & chosen as a 2025 States Project Fellow, a leadership development program convening a small group of state legislators from across the US each year. I’m headed to Philly to listen, learn, & bring back good ideas for Norfolk & Virginia!

I was delighted to join the 20th Annual 4th of July Parade in East Beach this morning!

Thanks to Dave & Nancy King for hosting an event in East Beach yesterday in support of my reelection campaign. I’m grateful for all of my supporters! While there is great frustration about the chaos & cruelty in DC, let me tell you — Virginia is going to send a message to the nation this November!

Here’s a fun fact: Keyshawn has tied the boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya for the third-fewest fights needed to secure a lightweight championship. Go Norfolk!

Well that was fun! This afternoon, Sen. Angelia Williams Graves and I, along with most of the Norfolk delegation, presented a joint commending resolution to Keyshawn Davis, a Norfolk native & the current lightweight world boxing champion.

I’m excited that Del. Bonita Anthony also received the same award for her tremendous leadership on environmental justice issues. Norfolk is leading the way!!

Did you know? In my first term, 4 of the 10 bills I passed into law focus on protecting our environment & helping us build a clean energy future. Thanks to the Va League of Conservation Voters for recognizing this work and presenting me with a 2025 Legislative Leadership Award!

At the 3rd annual Memorial Day Parade organized by the Larchmont Edgewater Civic League, Del. Anthony & I presented a resolution commending the civic league for “honoring active duty service members, veterans, and those who have given their lives in defense of the nation.” 🇺🇸

Now THAT was a town hall!

We had nearly 100 people in attendance & we returned ~$3,000 worth of unclaimed property to Norfolk residents! Thanks to our terrific special guests & everyone who showed up last night!

Yet another reason to join our town hall this Thursday! We start at 6pm at Pretlow Library in OV.

In my 1st term, I’ve passed several laws to help lower energy bills & protect the environment: ⏰ HB 855: expanded application window for families to get help paying heating & cooling bills 🔋HB 862: supported adoption of new technologies to make our electric grid more efficient 🌊 HB 1458: created a new chief resilience office to help Virginia plan for sea level rise / stronger storms / a changing climate 💵 HB 2346: establishes the largest pilot program in the country to help families and businesses put power back onto the grid and get paid

This morning, 13NewsNow filmed a story about how I fought for (and got approved) $100k of state funding to help Titustown determine its eligibility to become a Historic District. It’s one of the oldest African American neighborhoods in Norfolk.

Norfolk LOVES the annual Taste of India event at Chartway arena. There’s amazing food, performances, vendors, & celebrated traditions. No wonder it draws thousands of visitors from all over our region. Many thanks to the organizers for putting on this wonderful event each year!

HB 2029 will help localities deliver property tax relief to seniors & people with disabilities. This builds on legislation I passed in 2024 to help expand property tax relief to more Gold Star families.
