Good news for transit users in downtown Tacoma- the bus stop on Pacific & 19th (right outside the history museum) has reopened! (No official announcement but I saw the sign moved back yesterday AM and the driver dropped me off there yesterday PM)

Neighbors rec’d notices about road closures due to construction, why not about extended sidewalk closures too?

Why not finish what was already closed so at least 1 NB bus stop could reopen? I guess that’s being too nice.
(Also there was ZERO info around here about this happening. This commuter is NOT HAPPY.)

Any shorter timeline must be approved by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. If there’s nothing to hide, why hide? DHS doesn’t make laws and it’s laughable they think they have that kind of power. These rules aren’t legally binding or enforceable. Congress needs to show up anyway.

As we’ve reported before, ICE facilities are rife with human rights violations. Now, the Department of Homeland Security is trying to hide them, formally requiring members of Congress and their staff to give seven days’ notice before visiting immigration detention centers.

Our system was built on one simple demand: no taxation without representation. One man doesn’t get to decide who gets funding and who doesn’t.

Blue states prop up the system and now they’re done being punished for it. The next question? Whether taxpayers in those states can also push back. We need clarity: can individuals withhold federal tax when the government fails to deliver on its end?

Red states are net recipients: Many red states receive more in federal aid than they contribute in taxes, essentially subsidized by blue states.

Blue states are net contributors: States like California, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Illinois consistently send more in federal taxes than they get back in federal funding.

The strategy? If D.C. refuses to pay what it owes, states like Connecticut, Maryland, New York, and Wisconsin could withhold federal payments in return.

This is amazing, let’s go! Blue states are fighting back against Trump’s threats to withhold funding by introducing bills that give the federal government a taste of its own medicine.

If you think ICE is bad now, just wait till they hire 10,000 more agents and open more concentration camps.

This bill isn’t about savings. It’s about stripping healthcare, ballooning the deficit, and blaming immigrants for it.

Undocumented immigrants aren’t eligible for Medicaid (except for emergencies). The bill punishes states that use their own funds to cover kids or pregnant women regardless of status. The real impact? 7.6 million people left uninsured.

Speaker Mike Johnson on CNN said, “We are not cutting Medicaid… 1.4 million illegal aliens are on Medicaid.” False.

Do we just not understand signage, construction fencing, and construction cones anymore? Sidewalk is closed and not safe for pedestrians.

I’ve been asking for MONTHS (probably more than a year) for all bollards to be reinstalled. Sometimes there’s at least half a dozen cars coming and going - and PARKING - all along this area. It’s part of a published trail/bike path and should not have this many cars coming and going.

I was pleasantly surprised yesterday that one of the bollards blocking car access (still able to be moved as needed) to the Thea Foss Promenade had been moved from near the Glass Museum a little down the road to where most cars drive in (some WAY too fast) FINALLY.
Guess what, it’s gone again.
