I grew up in the midwest, both my parents went through the great depression and my father served in WW2. We were taught to love our country and its freedoms.
I'd watch the news with stories of strife in other countries and be glad I lived in America.
Now all the strife is here. So heartbreaking.

We need to take a chapter from the civil rights movement. Afro- Americans were kept from voting with intimidation and threats. Good people like my father-in- law, with courage and peril to themselves, would drive people to the polls and then take them home.
We have to protect our neighbors.

Im the daughter of a WW2 veteran and the wife of a Vietnam veteran. I love my country but am angry and appalled at what this dictatorial, white nationalist administration is doing to our beloved democracy.
Until we get our country back, Im not singing the national anthem or standing for the flag.

White privilege at its finest. If it weren't for protests, marches, and some civil disobedience, women wouldnt have the right to vote, the civil rights act wouldnt have passed, schools would still be segregated, members of the LGBTQ+ community wouldnt be able to marry who they want.
