Thanks to our incredible team, missionjoy.org, and the 17,000+ participants worldwide. We’re excited about the potential of brief interventions to support well-being and health at scale.
Key takeaways:
– A 7-day digital program can reliably boost well-being
– Greater benefit with higher completion
– Stronger effects for disadvantaged and lower well-being groups
– Free, brief, and scalable for global use
Socially disadvantaged groups benefited more, including:
– people with lower education
– greater financial strain
– lower perceived social status
– identifying as Black or Hispanic
These groups began with lower well-being and showed greater improvement.
From pre to post, participants reported:
-increased emotional well-being and positive emotions
-increased happiness agency
-reduced stress
-increased self-reported health and sleep quality
Effects were consistent and tended to be stronger for those who completed more days.
The Big Joy Project asked participants to complete 1 micro-activity per day (e.g., express gratitude, watch an awe video).
Each took ~5-10 mins. Participants completed daily surveys and a final reflection. Over 100 countries were represented in the sample.
