If you specify the required columns with get() then that avoids fetching extra columns from the DB that aren’t required. Big memory saving fetching eg article titles but not content.

I’ve been spending more time here and less on Twitter as it’s become overrun with US politics, but now 50% of my feed on here is also US politics πŸ˜• yay for the American-centric internet

Working on web projects recently has made me forget how awful iOS App Store review is.

I submitted a minor bug fix yesterday morning and it was rejected today for not showing all the required subscription info.

There’s not even any subscriptions in the app!

Best part of pumpkin carving with the kids - toasted pumpkin seeds.

β€œHey, I could make an app out of this…”

My issue is that I end up never finishing the app, or doing the thing I was meant to be doing.

I’ve never used bisect - is it just an easy way of checking out old commits?

I tend to always put them in routes for consistency. Route grouping makes it much easier to assign middleware to multiple controllers.

Another vote here for uptimerobot.com - it misses short incidents due to a 5 minute check interval on free accounts, but it’s good enough for me.

It’s written in a model-agnostic way, so rather than just users, any model can have preferences attached.

I couldn’t find a #laravel package for storing user preferences that suited my project, so I wrote my own. Worth open-sourcing as my first OS package? Or are there too many out there already?

We try to sort lunches out the night before. School menu is on the fridge, and a school dinner is picked or packed lunches are made in the evening.

School dinners are free here until primary 4, so we’re trying to guide them towards that option as often as possible!
