A lino print of an oak tree in black and white

This is my Oak Tree lino print. For 4 out of 5 years of selling my art online, this has been my best seller, by a MILE. It's also been on TV :) It depicts how we view oak trees, looking up at them through the branches.

A five-minute walk and I’m in the pine forest of my childhood.

Today I’m heading back to Kyiv.
Let’s take a short stroll among the pines together.

Prime Minister Carney attends the Canada-Nordic summit in Oslo, Norway.

At the Canada–Nordic Summit in Oslo, we worked with Nordic Allies to deepen our collective security, especially in the North.

In a more dangerous and divided world, partnerships like this make each of our nations safer, stronger, and more prosperous.

Photo of a light grey lichen growing on yellowish rock. The lichen is roundish and of a mound shape. The main body is comprised of convoluted folds and branches. Round discs of varying sizes (called apothecia) cover about 50% of the lichen.

Green Rock Posy Lichen (Rhizoplaca melanopthalm). NWT, Canada. Lichen is about 2cm, left to right. #lichen #fungi #fungifriends.

Appointee wants to replace White House columns with the ones Trump prefers The head of a federal arts commission is proposing the more ornate Corinthian style for the nearly 200-year-old columns at the building’s front entrance

Well that will open up the Strait of Hormuz.

"The White House’s main entrance — framed by graceful Ionic columns — has been a signature image of the seat of US power

"A Trump-appointee is proposing to replace them with a more ornate style favored by Trump...

The nutjobs are in Canada too.
I know the store this person is talking about.
They do put up posters and signs for every religious holiday.
They are lying about talking to the manager.

Wouldn’t it be great if leaders had to spent a week living the same way the most vulnerable do?

Canada's grocers used the pandemic as an excuse to price gouge enormously. This year it'll hurt particularly badly. We near the breaking point.

But there are also economic upsides. The U.S., for example, emerged from both world wars richer—the second time entering combat amid the Great Depression and exiting as a superpower.
U.S. unemployment fell from 14.6% in 1940 to 1.2% in 1944. By 1945, the U.S. produced roughly half of the world’s GDP.

If you think this, from that Wall Street Journal article arguing that wars are good for the economy, was contextualized in any way -- say, to note that America's percentage of world GDP was so high because of 75 million dead and the rest of the world burnt to ash -- you would be wrong.

The is the federal government telling news stations to provide favorable coverage of the war or their licenses will be pulled.

A truly extraordinary moment.

We aren't on the verge of a totalitarian takeover. WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT.

Act like it.

It’s been a tough few weeks for Canadian white nationalists.

I exposed a fascist fight club in Montreal (with a lil help from friends). The Canadian Anti-Hate Network unmasked users of a white supremacist dating app.

Who's next?

I had @antihate.ca’s Evan Balgord on the show to discuss:

Nearly 8,500 Canadians, permanent residents and their family members have returned to Canada through direct and indirect routes from the Middle East.
Yesterday, in response to the Government of Lebanon's request for humanitarian support, our government announced $37 million in funding to provide critical assistance in Lebanon, including food, medical and health services, and clean water.
Canada continues to monitor the situation in the Middle East and remains in close contact with humanitarian partners to assess and respond to evolving needs.
Due to the ongoing security situation in the region, some Canadian missions have limited in-person services. All offices in the region continue to provide essential services to Canadians, including consular support. We are also aware of delays affecting delivery of passports in certain parts of the region due to airspace closures. The gradual resumption of air travel will help address this issue.

‘They pushed so many lies about recycling’: the fight to stop big oil pumping billions more into plastics Plastic production has doubled over the last 20 years – and will likely double again. For author Beth Gardiner, metal water bottles and canvas tote bags are not the solution. So what is?

Trying to use less plastic?

Big Oil and the plastics industry are spending billions to make sure everyone else uses more.

“I think what stood out most is the deliberateness and intentionality over the years of pushing plastic into our lives,” said @bethgardiner.bsky.social. “It was such a shock."
