Tripple towers. The Petronas Towers are glamourised as a tourist attraction and symbol of Kuala Lumpur, but Petronas is actually Malaysia's state oil and gas company. Do most tourists realise that or not?

Suria Mall, right next to the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur. But just from looking at it, maybe it could be anywhere. Or maybe even globalised consumerist products like malls and ads vary, at least by country.

Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), Bangkok. It's a Buddhist temple, but it has Hindu elements. It's from the 1600s, but the spire is newer. If you take a ferry up the river it stands out on the riverbank.

This is the Perth airport metro station. It was built recently, before there was no metro to the airport. Luckily for me that was when I was too young to travel.

Perak Temple Cave. I only stayed in Ipoh one night, but there were lots of things to see there I didn't know about before. There's apparently a lot of cave temples there.

Chorsu Bazaar, Tashkent. The name means four ways, and the market has been there for hundreds of years, at the centre of the city, but the dome was built in Soviet times.

Lake Kaindy, Almaty, Kazakhstan. This was last December. It's fairly high up so it was colder than Almaty. The lake was formed after an earthquake, and the trees were flooded.
