Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

It cannot be right that the government is still hounding carers for repayments, long after this scandal was exposed and even after we secured an independent review, but before it has been put right.

The government must pause repayments and get on with fixing the system so it works for carers.

"Sadly, in recent months, we've seen politicians scapegoat marginalised groups as a form of distraction politics.

It's our duty to correct these false narratives and focus on the genuine issues affecting constituencies, such as health care and social housing," -Β @eointennyson.bsky.social

Today marks one year since Labour won a landslide majority on just 34% of the vote.

No wonder trust in politics is so low when we keep getting governments that most people didn't choose.

There is an alternative: a proportional system where Parliament reflects how people voted. #PRnow

Octopus boss says net zero is in trouble β€” but he has a solution Charge a different price for electricity in different parts of the country, says Greg Jackson, and the UK would save billions

Greg Jacksons (Octopus boss) long argued for regional energy pricing and how it could cut billions off costs, indeed he discussed it on my podcast, but I think this is the best explanation & analogy of it I've read (sadly it's paywalled)...

The fact that we have a Member of Parliament effectively endorsing and certainly normalising incitement to violence against a marginalised and racialised social group says everything about just how dangerous the spread of fascist logic in British society has become.

Dan Neidle is calling out tax misbehaviour. We’re helping him stand up to bullies | Good Law Project A tax barrister is threatening to sue Dan Neidle for defamation. His work is too important to be silenced.

Dan Neidle has, righteously, been calling out tax lawyers who enrich themselves - and impoverish the public purse - giving bad tax advice. He's now being threatened with defamation proceedings - so we're backing him. goodlawproject.org/dan-neidle-i...

Sure Start centres saved UK government Β£2 for every Β£1 spent, study finds New Labour initiative created β€˜remarkably long-lasting’ health and education improvements, says report

One of the things that Blair's Labour got absolutely right was Sure Start - of course the Tories killed it. And sadly it's exactly the kind of state intervention that Starmer seems allergic to.

The shift towards LibDems in local councils is going to become more prevalent given they’re the only party advocating to rejoin the EU but watch Reform reframe that narrative shortly by saying something like β€œwe will make the EU a deal that benefits us so we can increase our sovereignty”
