Amazing scenes, the Starlings are back in Marbury. Maybe 10,000 going down to roost in the little mere. This is the first time in a few years that they have done it. It is just so spectacular, it makes your skin tingle! #ukbirding #Starlings

Sorry you are having a difficult time. That is an amazing set of birds. I know what you mean about patch, in some ways, always seeing the same stuff, and sometimes seeing very little but it is also nice to get to know your local birds too!

Beautiful morning walk. Highlight was Chips & Gravy both coming for the first time in 10 days. Chips came with something already in his mouth not sure what it is? Also Yellowhammers, Stonechats, Kestrels, Sparrowhawk, Fieldfares, Mipits, Mistle Thrush, Siskins, Tufted Ducks etc! #ukbirding

5/10 in Marbury VC58 last night and half of them were Feathered Thorns. Also Chestnut, 2 December Moths & 2 Red-Green Carpets. Having fewer moths means you can have a really good look at them. For instance the December moth, which I thought was a plain moth, is actually beautifully marked #teammoth

I will definitely keep up to date next year. I have learnt my lesson

It’s provided by the county recorder. I’m not an experienced excel user & it’s made easy for me. I only have to put the first few letters of the macros English name and a drop down box comes up for me to click on, the number and Latin name just automatically come up. You have a big job ahead 😬!

I had never heard of MapMate until Liz mentioned it. I will take a look at it and your garden list

Interesting how everyone does it slightly differently. I did it all at the end last year but only started moth- ing in mid July so wasn’t as much of a big job. Good luck catching up with the rest of your records!

That’s interesting i have used the county spreadsheet for this year’s moths. I will have to check if the CR would prefer irecord for next year

That sounds very sensible Liz. I am definitely going to try to do that next year!

Not being successful at changing my body clock for winter. It’s still pitch black outside so no walking yet, instead doing some of my moth spreadsheet, at 5 in the morning!! Never again will I leave it until October to input the year’s moths 😳 Begining to get there now though. #teammoth
