Worth noting as the ICC pat themselves on the back with a video of children playing cricket in Sierra Leone, that the ICC specifically excluded Sierra Leone and all other African Associate nations from even entering the qualification process for the Women's World Cup.

Always good to have more cricket content not in English.

A tweet by Peter Della Penna saying "Under the failed leadership of board chair Venu Pisike & CEO Johnathan Atkeison, USA Cricket has bled out more than 5,600 members since 2023. That includes 55 out of 116 (47%) former member leagues from 2023 who have completely abandoned USA Cricket in 2025. Shame on USA Cricket".

I'm confused. I thought Americans uniformly had a higher level of customer service and business acumen which would mean things like this never happen...

A young trans girl DIED by her own hand, in part over feelings of desperation that trans healthcare was unobtainable.

And Graham Linehan wrote THIS!!! 😀🀬

Save this and post it in response to journalists writing β€œtrans people ruined my marriage” articles about him in the future!!!

I once misspelled "Public Services" as "Pubic Services" five times (once accidentally, the others on purpose for a giggle) in a two page report to senior management and not a single one of them noticed.

In three different companies, I had to submit reports to the board on a monthly basis. I started putting in a line that said "if you read this, call me and I'll give you Β£XX". I started at Β£10, and went up by Β£10 per month. Nobody ever called, nobody ever mentioned it.

But too many of the slaves died in captivity. And so Columbus, desperate to pay back dividends to those who had in-vested, had to make good his promise to fill the ships with gold. In the province of Cicao on Haiti, where he and his men imagined huge gold fields to exist, they ordered all persons fourteen years or older to collect a certain quantity of gold every three months. When they brought it, they were given copper tokens to hang around their necks. Indians found without a copper token had their hands cut off and bled to death.
The Indians had been given an impossible task. The only gold around was bits of dust garnered from the streams. So they fled, were hunted down with dogs, and were killed.

After each six or eight months' work in the mines, which was the time required of each crew to dig enough gold for melting, up to a third of the men died.
While the men were sent many miles away to the mines, the wives remained to work the soil, forced into the excruciating job of digging and making thousands of hills for cassava plants.
Thus husbands and wives were together only once every eight or ten months and when they met they were so exhausted and depressed on both sides... they ceased to pro-create. As for the newly born, they died early because their mothers, overworked and fam-ished, had no milk to nurse them, and for this reason, while I was in Cuba, 7000 children died in three months. Some mothers even drowned their babies from sheer desper-ation.... In this way, husbands died in the mines, wives died at work, and children died from lack of milk ... and in a short time this land which was so great, so powerful and fer-tile... was depopulated... My eyes have seen these acts so foreign to human nature, and now I tremble as I write....

Please remember that the disgust people have over Christopher Columbus is not based on some modern, 21st century β€œwoke” ideology, but rather on contemporaneous accounts of atrocities that make many modern genocides appear quaint in comparison.

Below, are the accounts of BartlomΓ© de las Casas.

(Some notes to this one - East Asia here is as the ICC defines it so doesn't include the multitude of defeats against Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. PNG did lose three times to Vanuatu during the 2015 Pacific Games but were fielding a second XI and the men's tournament wasn't ICC sanctioned)

Similarly, Papua New Guinea's loss against Samoa the other day is only the second time they've lost to another associate in the East Asia Pacific region in an official match, the last coming against Fiji in 2001.

(And given that those defeats were in the midst of Hansie Cronje's involvement in fixing, this is possibly their first legit loss to an African side)

South Africa's loss to Namibia yesterday was only the third time they've lost to another African side. Previous occurrences were both against Zimbabwe, one during the 1999 World Cup and one the following year in an ODI tri-series.

That was the general impression. And also shows what they think of the audience tuning in. No sport insults its audience quite like cricket.

Not sure it's appropriate for commentators to be giving endorsements (or otherwise) of domestic politicians on World Cup broadcasts.

If we had more politicians willing to use accurate descriptions of Farage, Tice and their ilk, we'd be in a much better place.

Greens growing. Reform ratttled.

PS - I changed my name back to my family's original Jewish name because I'm proud of being Jewish. If Tice think that makes me a weirdo, I think that makes him an antisemite.

Genuinely delighted that "Italy all-rounder" is in the headline. When I started writing about associate cricket it would be the funny bit at the end of the article if it were mentioned at all.
