I don’t think an anime opening has ever made me laugh so hard.
10.10.2025 00:57 — 👍 219 🔁 103 💬 2 📌 2It's well-known that the OG CD of NSB2 has a flourish ending on "Lakeside Story" rather than a fade out on later reissues. However, I did notice that "Mahou no Hitomi" is actually shortened by a few bars on the 1991 CD (the difference is about 50 seconds).
10.10.2025 00:05 — 👍 2 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0Got this in the mail: the original 1984 CD release of Niagara Song Book 2 by Niagara Fall of Sound Orchestral (I already have the 1991 remastered CD of this album).
Apparently it came from a radio station in Hawaii, so there are some writings in the booklet for some songs.

03.10.2025 19:07 — 👍 72 🔁 28 💬 3 📌 1My stupid gaikokujin ass at my office desk, surrounded by a frankly ridiculous number of anime collectibles. You can see the Senpai corner in the middle-ish of the screen, to the left of the monitors/the Constructicons.
Finally had the chance to watch the TV Tokyo special for myself (rental copy, can't show anyone else, apologies) and while they're not the focus you -can- briefly see my oshi corner, so that makes me happy.
(Also hi! That's me on the left there! In my own home!)
Non-"blendy" telecine of a composite print of the Toho Champion Festival version of the 'King Kong vs. Godzilla' trailer that features on the 1991 Toho LaserDisc (capped by @mitchhang.bsky.social), but was not ported to the 2001 DVD release, where the familiar "blendy" telecine was utilized instead.

Now I'm years on HRT and have just gotten the series not only in America but in HD which I never thought would actually happen

22.09.2025 14:31 — 👍 48 🔁 17 💬 2 📌 0A collage of discs I’ve either produced, authored, or worked on in some fashion, surrounding a photo of me pogging to the huge Unicorn Gundam in Odaiba, Tokyo. The discs from top to bottom, left to right, are: Urusei Yatsura, Digimon Movies, Berserk 1997, Belle UK UHD+BD, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Aim for the Ace!, Sonic X Japanese Version, and Gunbuster.

I’m a bit late but guess what day it is?!?!?!
21.09.2025 22:28 — 👍 3 🔁 2 💬 0 📌 0This one's a trip. It's got exaggerated faces, mecha warfare, plenty of character cameos -- Mendou from Urusei Yatsura gets blown up in one scene -- and the fact that the main villain is named "Rory Conn" (I don't have to explain what that name suggests).

"Itoshi no Maaya"
1983 fan anime produced by a team of high school students in Shiogama, Japan.
A dude is hired as a bodyguard and poses as a student to protect the daughter of a scientific weapons development research institute. Hijinks ensue.

Here’s the completed model! Not too bad, if I say so myself.
Keep in mind that I've never watched any episode of Gundam in full, so I wonder how this hobby will go for me.
Built my first-ever RX-78-2 Gunpla earlier today. It's a remake of the first model released in 1980 and is apparently an Entry Grade model (High Grade would be the next step up). I like how each of the pieces can be removed without nippers and is illustrated in diagrams, so you know what goes where.
16.09.2025 00:34 — 👍 4 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0Some English graphs found exclusively on the AnimEigo DVD release of Otaku no Video.
It seems whoever was working on the DVD thought that putting translations for some of the charts as overlaid subtitles would be too messy or complicated, so they decided to redo them entirely in English.
