AnimEigo's BD of Nobody's Boy Remi (and MXC set 1 lol) arrived
Remi has been one of my top dream licenses so I am absolutely ecstatic to see it release

The screenshots provided are definitely from the TV series

KSM restoration had some problems (likely due to time crunch) like auto scratch remover detail removal, if the Dybex BD improved upon these that would be very cool

While it's a complete coincidence, EMOTION putting out a 4:3 release of Romeo a few months after AnimEigo puts out theirs is a bit of a kick to the nuts
Guess I'll buy both
Not a fan of the amount of episodes per disc, I've only seen MediaOCD pull that off without problems

With these guys it's always one step forward and two steps back, now we're no longer getting upscales; instead SDBD or remaster, but now we have to deal with them being incredibly variable in quality of said remasters and what shows they choose to do

It is a little annoying that incredibly obscure shows get a brand spanking new sharp 2024 HD scan and shows with any popularity get reused probably early 2010s scans with bad filtering

This is so strange to me because I have never seen this from them before, Voltes was an obviously new scan that was ruined in the encode, but here we have a good encode with a overly filtered, old scan

The color grade is the only thing I really like about this, filtering is meh
We will have to see how they handle Daikengo I guess

The remaster looks well done unfortunately it's licensed to Best Field so the encoding is really mid/bad
There is very little restoration but the color grade is good
I am amazed they give this treatment to really obscure shows but not their "crown jewels"
