The Ontario Conservative Government just announced plans to significantly weaken the Province's freedom of information laws.

This follows FOI releases that embarrassed the government, exposed wrongdoing, and ensured accountability.

Maybe I'm out of practice watching these meetings but I don't think I've seen such a patronizing tone from a board or citizen committee of council towards members of the public in quite some time.

Appreciate your coverage this evening, Joey

I'm not comfortable with your choice of language to compare people to rabid animals. I'm talking about encampments, which are *in every way* a housing issue. You can rephrase your comment if you'd like to engage further with me.

You might find it more effective to direct your frustration to the city's lack of public housing and the landlords that are hoarding property and jacking up rent prices.

Extreme and expensive enforcement won't fix the lack of housing and social support. There's no "help" available to accept now.

I'm tired of my taxes funding brutal and ongoing enforcement with no real solutions to provide shelter or support for my community. In October last year the city approved an additional 500,000 on top of their ongoing enforcement response funds instead of planning warming centres and other supports.

Pretty sure this is a lie, and over the summer folks were not allowed to set up tents at night. Is this not covering the city's enforcement over the past year too? The dump trucks are somehow a non-forceful removal??

Delegation Days may be over for #HamOnt Budget 2026, but heads up. Anyone who watched the GIC meeting on January 29 heard it. There may be a motion coming to pause the accelerated Cycling Master Plan. Yes, pause. During a safety and climate crisis.

This has happened in Hamilton - there are restrictions imposed by grocery store chains prohibiting new grocery stores on properties.

Successive Ontario governments have permitted the grocery industry to block competition and create food desserts.

November 15 marked a full three years in my role as Councillor for Ward 2. Every year, around this time, I write about another year gone by, what I’ve learned in this job, what people tell me when they see me at a meeting, stop me in the street, or share their thoughts with me in an email. #HamOnt

Questions being raised about prison labour program in Canada Questions are being raised about the prison labour system across the country being run by Correctional Services of Canada.

Inmates at a minimum-security prison are producing milk that enters Canada’s commercial supply chain.

It’s part of the national prison labour program critics say has drifted far from its rehabilitative goals.

Hopefully something that can happen again in the future on this side of the border 🤞🏻
