Pragmatic Principles It's been a tough old year. Ditching out of 7 R&P deals at once naturally brings with it a whole host of stressful situations to navigate. Through all of this, an absolutely excellent piece of work (that I am very proud we achieved) underpinned a huge amount of our strategic thinking and decision making. Prior to any budget cuts, the decision had already been made that we in the Library should work with external colleagues to co-create a…

Krina Doekes Brandt's presentation "Making Historical Geographic Collections Accessible: Digital Cataloging and Spatial Discovery Tools" was excellent. She outlined the work taken to create a highly interactive catalog for historical maps/aerial photos.

Christine Stohn (Clarivate) talks of the waves of AI.

AI/machine learning
Generative AI
Agentic AI

I wonder how similar Agentic AI is to the P2P approach of the UNaiVERSE product discussed in the keynote.

This was raised last year also on the open floor. The response was fairly broad and I would suggest unsatisfactory. If the "train has left the station" as was stated y'day and we apparently have no choice, then they need to be more proactive in explaining what they plan to do.

Keynote from Marco Gori essentially was him promoting UNaIVERSE. It seems to be a decentralised, privacy focused form of AI. It makes sense but given what Ex Libris are doing currently,I would wonder if they would be interested.

I think the community definitely would be.

Looking at the Primo Roadmap 2025. Changes to Primo Research assistant. You can now prefilter by pub type (e.g. books, peer-reviewed) & date. This is significant, for me the big reason to use Primo RA is that its index goes beyond usual journal article from semantic scholar (1)
