What did Act & NZ First do during the Occupation of Parliament, when protesters were talking about hanging Ardern? Seymour and Peters met with the protesters of course!
This is just more hypocrisy from the right. They simply want an excuse to do a UK style crack-down on protests in general.

This guy met with protesters in 2022 who were talking about hanging Ardern and Robertson. But now he's outraged about some minor vandalism. He's a fucking hypocrite using this incident to score points against his political rivals.

Australia and Europe then?
I remember when Luxon used to bash Labour for not doing enough to stem the "brain drain". Funny how he went from complaining about problems to exacerbating them the instant he got power.

And because our society has chosen an economic model that requires some people to be unemployed, our society has a moral responsibility to support those people.

And the government is going to force rich parents to support their 18-19 year olds rather than just hanging them out to dry, right? Right?

It is offensive for the person supposedly in charge of the government and its economic levers to suggest that youths, and their playstationing ways, are responsible for the most rapid surge in unemployment since the Great Financial Crash

The thing I find surprising is that in 2006 Dunedin had a population of 119k, Hamilton had 130k and Tauranga had 104k. In the last 20 years Hamilton and Tauranga have grown by around 50% and Dunedin has grown by 5%.

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon asks Labour leader Chris Hipkins to support offshore gas exploration The Prime Minister wants a bipartisan approach to offshore exploration for natural gas.

I will reiterate as someone with field and specific knowledge of New Zealandโ€™s oil and gas sector, there is no giant untapped field out there. Even if Labour agrees to this, not a single drop of oil or gas will be produced in the next decade because itโ€™s not there. www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

Let's also not forget that the last bipartisan agreement Labour had with National fell apart because National reneged. If National can't stick to their word such an agreement is worthless.

If I was Chippy, I'd be asking why Labour should enter any bipartisan agreement with National when they dropped the last one as soon as it was politic to do so. Any agreement with National is worthless, they can't be trusted.

Absolutely. Van Velden literally said we overvalued lives during the covid lockdowns. ACT's callousness and lack of concern for anyone but themselves isn't new, but their willingness to gamble with thousands or even hundreds of thousands of lives is alarming. They are a party of sociopaths.

A study from 2021 found there is a 75% chance of a major quake on the Alpine Fault before 2068. Weakening regulations in the face of that fact is incredibly stupid.

A huge part of the reason "only" 500 people have died from quakes in NZ is the regulations. 2 people died in the 7.1 magnitude quake that hit Christchurch in 2010. That same year a 7.0 quake hit Haiti and killed something like 160,000 people.

We're clearly showing leadership by being in the 20% of countries that haven't moved forward with recognising Palestine. But what do we expect from a guy who has consistently opposed every pro-human rights policy?

Yeah. They believe all expenditure is bad by definition so they're cancelling without doing the due diligence that a competent government would. Ministers should have resigned over the ferries and Dunedin hospital debacles but they're shameless and see no wrong because the decisions were ideological

Not just on the wrong side of history, on the wrong side of the divide between nations too. In the past we've taken the minority position because it was the right one. This time we've taken the minority position because our leadership are cowards and cookers.

Every other National and Labour leader has been able to keep coalition partners in line. Hard to believe the dynamics have fundamentally changed, seems way more likely Luxon is just useless and/or simply willing to do anything Peters and Seymour demand so long as he gets to keep the PM title.
