Did you know that Boilek was a Democrat until 2023 and gave a similar "the party lost me" excuse that Tricia Cotham gave? Or that former *Democratic* Auditor Beth Wood endorsed him over Jessica Holmes who replaced her.

This makes me wonder if the NC Dems are compromised.

Wesley Knott clearly wishes that he could have a Nida Allam in Wake to take on Deborah Ross in 2028. I don't blame him though. #NCpol

I'm so sorry because I understand that that is the worst.

Everyone glosses over the collapse of 2010 and the mini-collapse of 2020-22. The former did damage still not fully fixed while the latter undid what gains were clawed back.

I'm sorry we failed you, James Van Der Beek. Just like we fail everyone who has ever died of cancer, the worst disease in the history of humanity which no global society has had the will to eradicate.

Maybe he is the lucky one here. No politics, pain, poverty, or hate when you no longer live.

The Marie-Philip Poulin who scored golden goals as a CWHL-playing CEGEP student and in a gap year at BU would've been seen as "too young" by the same Team Canada who without her playing seemingly collapsed with her hurt. And that is a shame in this hockey world.

So, are we all bailing on Discord now?

Why do I think that there will be no consensus replacement and online society will maintain a unfilled gap like when Xitter sold its soul?

Why does it feel like Epstein was some sort of glue that via the power and elite classes kept the West together? And why is it there were probably many before him?

How was it that a 25 year old white woman organizer who never held political office could defeat a 73 year old black woman who was incumbent party chair, 3 term NCGA rep, and a PhD/retired teacher?

Was it racism? Or that the latter's (in)actions set the North Carolina Dems back years? #NCPol

How is this guy only 58 or so yet looks so old when Roy Cooper is a decade older but looks younger than him?

Just say the honest truth: That all these issues are the fault of Republicans and Republicans alone.

I think that for once they should be demonized and scapegoated. Perhaps then they can then grow a backbone and a brain.

I would sign up for a "Good Will Dunkin" sitcom.

Chuck Grassley could've been a St. Louis Brown or a Philadelphia Athletic (or very narrowly a Boston Brave) and should've retired 20 years ago.

Dianne Feinstein, Rockford Peach, same deal when she was alive.

Yes he could have. And I think he should move aside too.

So NBC has a sports producer who does a podcast about figure skating named Sarah Hughes who isn't the Sarah Hughes who wasn't one of the darlings of the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics. Got it.

If you are old enough to have been a Milwaukee Brave or a Kansas City Athletic, you really shouldn't be in politics.

Republicans don't want democracy. They want an anti-Democrat spiteocracy where nothing gets done because they say so.

Hey, remember when NBC got lazy and tape delayed the opening ceremony to the Rio 2016 Olympics by a mere hour because...reasons?

Would that egregious case of #NBCFail fly today?

I get your point but starting with Cecil Brockman is a choice. So might be subbing Diamond Staton-Williams.

The whole NC-04 thing is over accessibility and age and not race, right? Please tell me that I'm not crazy or racist here. Am I?

Wake County could use its own Nida Allam in 2028 to primary Deborah Ross but that's just me. #NCPol #NorthCarolina

06.02.2026 15:29 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Do you believe that people are siding with Nida Allam because she's young and accessible and because of Boomer hostility or becaude Foushee is a black woman and there seems to be a bias against them?

06.02.2026 15:18 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Have you ever been to Durham? Do you know anyone there? Do you know anything about Nida Allam besides "that woman running against Valerie Foushee?"

06.02.2026 13:30 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 2

Drake Maye was snubbed worse than Cal Raleigh. Change my mind.

Remember when she was in a movie based on a board game?

Those were good days too.

The packs of GenZ White women in Durham glazing Allam are a lot more ageist than racist. If it was David Price versus Allam, it would be the same thing.

I want the NC Dems to cultivate a good younger bench which goes beyond the parade of GenZ White women who have no institutional memory of NC politics pre-2023 minus "Hey, Obama won in 2008!" and Leandro. I'm still bitter that Chaz Beasley got ledt to sink.

You're welcome. It makes me wonder why we haven't seen similar in Charlotte given that Alma Adams is even older except that the Meck Dems would trip over their shoelaces while wearing slip-ons.

05.02.2026 16:10 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I think that people are underplaying the tension among Dems as a whole between older and younger generations. The warning signs have been there for a while especislly since some Boomers have shown contempt towards younger generations.

05.02.2026 16:06 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I would put age bias (1993 v. 1956) over race bias if anything. That the NC Dems are lacking in a younger black bench is something to be of major concern.

05.02.2026 16:01 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 1

I think it's a generational battle (1993-born Nida Allam v. 1956-born Valerie Foushee) which shows fractures between vocal Millennial/GenZ dems v. Silent/Boomer dems. I do not think that race comes into play though the lack of a black bench among the young is concerning.
