I haven’t checked in here in ages.. and I think I went to two Ateez stops since I last did. Sigh. They’re my loves. I have no more stops this tour but I just. Love them so much. I’ve been floaty since we took our huge 11-person group to Ateez in Chicago. (Matching shirts! We extra 💅🏼) I miss them.

At Stray Kids NYC and phew. Rain delay and a bit of a disaster for the folks who queued for barricade since last night. (Not us.) Soundcheck is done now but.. maybe more delays to come? Clouds and warnings on the radar.

“Hyung, you made it!” San greets, swinging open the door. The outside air hits Hongjoong all at once, a sticky wall of heat and humidity. If he was expecting it to feel better than it did when they were outdoors briefly at the airport, he was very much mistaken. “Hi,” he says, unable to keep the annoyance out of his voice. “Yeah, that’s tropical weather for you,” San says sympathetically. “Come jump in the water, you’ll feel better.” “Yo,” Yeosang says when they walk up to the shallow end of the pool. Seonghwa, treading water toward the deeper end, nods in greeting and then sinks below the water line to his chin. His shoulders look particularly wide like that; a trick of the light, Hongjoong decides. “It’s as pretty as advertised out here,” Hongjoong says, leaving the hotel slippers to the side, outside the little grate that catches water overflow. Gingerly, he sits down by the clamshell-shaped steps leading down into the pool. He fiddles with the hem of his pants and frowns. He should’ve changed into more sensible shorts before rushing out of his room. He settles on rolling up the pants a few inches so he can soak his feet up to the ankles. The cool water does provide some immediate relief.

“You didn’t bring swim clothes or anything?” Yeosang asks. “Ah, no, I didn’t think that far when I was packing,” Hongjoong admits. “Too short a trip, I didn’t think about swimming.” “That’s too bad,” San says. “Just take your clothes off then, hyung,” Yeosang says, in that way that isn’t immediately obvious to Hongjoong if he’s joking or not. “Or at least the pants. You won’t be able to get more than your feet in the water otherwise.” So, not joking. “Ha ha, and wouldn’t that be a good time to run into someone,” Hongjoong says flatly. A fan, a hotel guest, a security guard; there are no good options for that kind of thing. “The guest relations manager-nim who let us in did make a point to tell us that the CCTV cameras aren’t pointed at the pool directly. They only cover the comings and goings at the doors,” San says, hooking a thumb back at the door they just came from. “And the bar over there.” He juts his chin at the crescent-shaped bar at the far end of the pool area, behind Hongjoong, who follows San’s line of sight despite himself. The bar is indeed a short walk away. But still, Hongjoong is a professional and he isn’t going to risk skinny dipping in a rooftop swimming pool no matter what they’ve been told by hotel employees.

Hongjoong does look down accusingly at his pajama bottoms though. “I’d at least lose the pants,” Yeosang repeats. “Not everyone is as comfortable and free as Kang Yeosang,” Seonghwa says, smirking. Yeosang’s hand goes up automatically to cover up his guilty laugh. The comfort level of the Yeosang-Yunho dorm is infamous in both atiny circles and the members’ group chat. “Are you—” Hongjoong starts, before catching himself. Seonghwa’s eyes are dark when they turn to him. “Hm?” “Ah. I mean. Did you remember to pack swim trunks, or are you in there in your underwear?” He carefully avoids asking if they are skinny dipping as they speak, but he doesn’t avoid thinking about the possibility. A slow panic takes root in his stomach as he realizes that San being the only one in actual swim gear may have been why he was the one who got out of the water to let Hongjoong in. Seonghwa smiles like the Cheshire cat and sinks lower into the water. “Can you not tell from up there?” San sends a half-hearted splash in Seonghwa’s direction and rolls his eyes. “Hyung’s in his swim trunks. So is Yeosangie.”
