My cousin worked a season at the Sonnenalp hotel in Vail and came home mostly having learned to loathe rich people. Everyone got stolen Sonnenalp cups and saucers for Christmas that year.

Let's just say there's a reason I grew up cross-country skiing and not downhill skiing (and the reason was Anchorage's many miles of groomed public ski trails and thriving gear resale economy)

In the video of Trump talking to the US men's hockey team, when he says "I must tell you, we're going to have to bring the women's team, you do know that" as a joke about how annoying it is to have women around, the most painful part for me, are all the hockey players laughing. Actually laughing.

It would be an interesting historical hunt to find examples where making people deliberately ignorant about any particular topic actually caused an improvement in personal or social well-being.

The typical result is unexpected bad outcomes (cuz they're ignorant) and willful abuse of others (ditto).

Everyone likes to think they would have hidden Anne Frank during the Holocaust, but the fact is the US had multiple opportunities to save Jewish lives before Pearl Harbor and repeatedly said no.

Very proud that my undergraduate alma mater did not preemptively bend the knee on this like some more "prestigious" institutions.

Normalize laughing derisively in men's faces when they deserve it.

It's become a personal litmus test for me. If someone mentions it being a movie that they like, or even just a good movie, I immediately assume they lack any human empathy.

Can I volunteer to be left back?

I went into that movie completely blind and I'm still angry about it.
