Went to my childhood roller rink today in the parental capacity. Havenβt been there in 25 years. It looks and even smells exactly the same. Unfortunately there was no Spice Girls, Goo Goo Dolls, or Backstreet Boys playing.

Having not watched these in about 25 years, I can confirm that three is absolutely awful, but four really holds up. #Halloween #SpookySky

A Hero in the Midst of Cowards
The righteous rage of John Brown
On this day in 1859, John Brownβs raid on Harperβs Ferry began. A few years ago, I wrote this story about Brown, his final days, & the influence of his time spent living in Pennsylvania. If you missed it, I hope youβll check it out. #history #skystorians

Tonightβs #Halloween season double feature. Iβve actually never watched A Quiet Place *and* Iβve managed to avoid any spoilers about it.

I missed this one when it came out somehow. While watching it tonight, I thought to myself that it sure seemed like a zombie movie as if directed by Jim Jarmusch. It turns outβ¦ it was a zombie movie literally directed by Jim Jarmusch. π€¦π»ββοΈ #halloween #spookysky

A newer one tonight for #Halloween season. I know nothing about besides it being described to me as a mashup of a cheesy Lifetime movie and a classic slasher.

And when you realize it was 1974, predating even Halloween by a few years, itβs even more impressive!

Black Christmas (1974) for tonightβs #Halloween movie.

Hereβs tonightβs Halloween season watch, another one I havenβt watched since I was 13 or 14. It makes one wonder why Spielberg hasnβt dabbled more in the horror genre.
08.10.2025 01:44 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
It really held up, I thought. Thereβs a particular vibe to those 80s horror movies that I dig.
07.10.2025 18:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
Honestly, itβs corny (in a good 80s horror movie way), but Iβm loving it.

First horror movie of the #Halloween season: Fright Night (1985). I havenβt watched this since I was 13 or 14 when I rented a beat up old VHS copy of it, but I remember loving it and its darkly comedic vibe. #HalloweenSky

Canada Lee's Knockout Path from Erie to Broadway
From welterweight warrior to theater legend
Canada Lee was an esteemed Broadway actor who, among other roles, was the lead in Orson Welles's Native Son adaptation. In Hollywood, he worked with Alfred Hitchcock & alongside Sidney Poitier. Before this though? A scrappy boxer. My latest. #history #skystorians

Due to Leeβs increasing civil rights activism & connection to progressive causes, he soon found himself the target of anti-communist hysteria & with the FBI's investigation of him, he was blacklisted. When asked to identify a friend as a communist to drop the blacklisting, Lee refused. #history

When he took on the lead role in Welles' Native Son in 1941, he was experiencing fame well beyond that from his boxing days. The New York Times outright called him one of the best actors in the country. "I'm completely bewildered," Lee said. #skystorians #Broadway #history

After nearly 100 professional matches, Canada Lee hung up his gloves. He dabbled as a bandleader, traveling from club to club, before in 1934, stumbling upon something new: the stage. In 1936, he was cast by Orson Welles as Banquo in an extremely successful production of Macbeth. #acting #history

Canada Lee started boxing professionally at age 20 after winning around 90 of his first 100 fights as an amateur. He was described as a "sensational welterweight" who hit hard with his "dynamic left hand" and a "pile driving right." #history #boxing #sports
