A humpback whale doing something between a breach and a head lunge, with jets of water coming out both sides of his mouth. The calm blue waters of the Pacific give way to the island of Lanai and a hazy sky on the horizon

Here's some #Whale behavior I haven't seen before....during a breach/head lunge, this one was using his tongue to press water in jets out the sides of the mouth, it was wild! So much beauty. 🌿📷🦑

My photo collage shows 4 Roman clear-glass cups painted with colourful enamel-painted motifs of animals from the Roman Arena. These are known as ‘circus cups’, of which fourteen have been found in richly-furnished graves in Denmark, dated AD 200s. The top two images show two sides of the same cup. At top left a brown lion with shaggy mane, its legs outstretched as if running at full speed. On the other side of the cup at top right, is a green spotted leopard. Out of shot is a blue goat being hunted down by the lion and the leopard. Photo at bottom left shows a fragmentary glass cup decorated with a light brown lion with a shaggy mane. Cup at bottom right has an image of a gladiator and in front of him a large brown bear.

He was a German student. Manfred Maywyrm (?) from Bad Homburg studying in the UK in 1980. Good friend to my parents. They lost touch.
