I mean, you get kinetic bounceback from hitting bare-handed as well. In any case, the armor's powered elements help to absorb the extra force. The same fundamentals as unarmed fighting would apply: a strong hit comes from a strong stance.
08.08.2025 20:44 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It would be possible, but cumbersome in different ways. Between augmentations and armor, Reina has plenty of striking power. The dusters are just an extra edge if she expects to be fighting hand-to-hand.
08.08.2025 20:34 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Some kind of electrokinetic knuckle dusters? This seems like it would be an obvious feature of Reina's arsenal, and I've somehow not thought about it until now.

30.06.2025 05:13 โ ๐ 209 ๐ 33 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0I need to depict certain bits in greater detail, like the shoes, and the fact that the jacket's collar has a lightweight hood stuffed into it. I also want to design some sort of wrist-gadget for him (actually a little unusual for the setting; it's related to his cultural background).

23.06.2025 02:25 โ ๐ 100 ๐ 21 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Multiple people have identified Doc as a Universal Century Man, and that makes me very happy as Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's work has pretty strongly influenced how I think about character design.
(ignore deleted comment; flubbed initial reply)
Realizing that I seriously need to put more focus onto developing Doc's design, given his importance as a protagonist. Also testing adding some subtly fantastical eye and hair colors to the setting.
20.06.2025 00:57 โ ๐ 105 ๐ 15 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0OPEN BLUE. GRAND WESTERN. SANDSTONE LAYS SIDEWAYS, TRACING LINES ACROSS THE DESERT. SOMETHING ANCIENT AND TERRIBLE HAS TURNED THIS WORLD ON ITS SIDE. But that doesn't matter to you, Filament. You choose, today and forever, to ignore the cracks in your dying world. Because as long as that turbine spins, as long as that hydraulic loop has pressure, your body has wings. And it means you'll be free. Even if you'll never know where, or why. Even if you'll never come home again. ENDLESS PATROL. ONE MORE CLEAR NIGHT. DON'T YOU LOVE ME, PILOT? The future is never. You'll never see her again, Pilot. Not between your sheets, nor the doorways of your home, and never in your arms again. You'll never remember that face, only the contours, contrails, burned into white vortex and wake at the corners of her smile. Remembering the trace of her hands on your back will forever be the same as surface flow, rolling and coiling and then pouring off into tides of unclean nothingness. Fluid dynamics. The depths of memory. You'll never separate us. It's all the same, now. The sea and the sky, dark blue to endless dark blue. Together, fingers interlinked, tendons and ailerons together. Infrared searching, eyes flitting. Thermal outlines of hips and canards and shoulder blades and weapon bays. Bodies, the same. Sea, like the sky. You're going to get into that cockpit again. Walk the line, that razor's edge. There's nowhere like the sky anymore, not for you. Come and chase the untouchable. Come find us, in the merge. That's where you'll feel it, one more time, Pilot. FIRST LOVE AND LAST AGAIN. MACH TWO AGAINST YOUR LIPS. TOUCH THE SKY, OR DIE TRYING.
ENDLESS PATROL. ONE MORE CLEAR NIGHT. DON'T YOU LOVE ME, PILOT?

She's Reina, and she's usually a bit less rendered.
I created her back in the mid-aughts, and the feeling of that era is something I've tried to carry on in her design.
I recently saw someone lamenting that digital artists have forgotten how to paint like it's 2005. In fact, we still have this power. Plastic is the only material you need, actually. Abhor flatness. Over-render everything.
