I can say my first impression was to skip the video, think to the layperson a lot of this speedrunning stuff feels played out. I love your style though so I got over the hump but Celeste in particular is pretty execution-heavy and lacks the nostalgia so the video can feel insular overall
one thing capcom kinda hides in the apollo justice trilogy is that actually there's been two main scenario writers for the ace attorney series: shu takumi (original creator) and takeshi yamazaki (new guy). yamazaki took mainline duties with dual destinies, so that's why they feel different!
As someone who also thought this line of videos was getting pretty tapped out, I find this really surprising! Maybe because this one had so much more attention to detail and RDR2 was able to tap into an audience that has missed your vids so far? This video did feel more satisfying overall too.
where did this data come from? I found it surprising that there would be an exactly 0% margin on three of those statistics, and checking the crosstabs (tables 116 and 117) only really shows that college educated peeps are somewhat more likely to identify demsoc (repost for copy/paste error)
Is this really success. I only witness ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. It's probably a later sentence though
oh noo, not the devil! I only do one pull a day but this was the card I got too...
okay unless it's works that became famous after the author's death. I don't think there's any equivalent to The Great Gatsby in this respect for games. not enough time
even as you sit here without trying to express what a "real game" is, I feel confident any box you create will have both games and books inside, or neither.
maybe you wouldn't want the real games to be the games that they are but they will fit as soon as you express the idea.
hey it's not that old! the show came out just this last season. I agree that it is very good. check out brave bang bravern for something completely different (it's weird mecha) by the same studio!
we sometimes organize tournaments in the zachtronics server and as a rule prefer new hosts to run them. for years and years now it's been running and there's no organizational document to follow- you just have past tournaments as reference and your own thoughts. go for it.
it's so true! I don't ever think I'm doing anything special when I organize things but it is a surprisingly rare trait to go from "want to do a thing" and "decide to do it"
Woah what game is this?
millennia of preparation. you are ready
I think the point of a critic is to be able to see further though, to be able to analyze and capture a meaning that a normal player/audience member would not see, or at very least, would have a hard time describing.
but a duller criticism could just reinforce conformity in the perception of a work.
it's a highly personal thing to decide on what something is, and I think the main issue of good/bad game design is that it grew out of a believed consensus that everyone was looking at the same thing and getting the same things out of it, a monolith.
I think like calling something good/bad requires first imagining what something is, and then imagining how well it is that.
once you decide what a thing is (nebulously), you can look at individual pieces of the work and see how they support or detract from that vision.
...right?
lmao this is the moment a shrink tries to unpack the differences here
(You could argue Hades was not Supergiant's first hit but the success of that game was an order of magnitude greater than their (still excellent) previous work)
I don't think it's particularly common for massively successful indie devs to be able to follow up their hit with another hit... that's just the way of things. They'll usually recede back into their niche or some such Hollow Knight and Stardew will be replaced by Hades and Balatro, not a next game.
I think it's really funny that they made it early like this because it must because the people in Japan want to be awake for it and see the response in realtime.
give up! /piece-of-shit
oh no
Is GN graphic novel? It sounds awesome, will buy!!
I think Etho and BDoubleO100 are probably two of the best when it comes to making videos that genuinely provide insight into what it means to create and the interface between artist and audience. It's trapped in Minecraft but I think there's really something in what these early 40s guys are doing.
you mentioned in some earlier post that all your characters are some part of you... I'm inclined to agree that ysme is some part of you
Just try to make a light joke about religion without calling it anathema and you'll have a new list item!
thank you for these grill thoughts. I have investigated every claim and your statements are rock solid. only issue with godot is he can only grill based on texture now, tragic.
I feel of the side characters lotta hart probably is grillmaster. furio tigre is perfect at cooking, terrible at spice.
perhaps it's worth more consideration if even a gameplay loop is the same thing, verbatim. I don't think it is, as the variation in structure is what can keep it compelling.
but anyways, in the show Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya they air and animated 8 episodes with nearly identical plot structure!
