Ten years of declarations stemming the flood of unhealthy food across the country!

Looking forward to the conference plus our panel on the commercial determinants of health with Prof @markpetticrew.bsky.social, Maria @frameworks.bsky.social & Dr Oliver Mytton with @robinireland.bsky.social

Our work - the Transport for London policy - was featured in the new EAT Lancet report! What a big moment!

I've reflected on it over on LinkedIn - do have a read: www.linkedin.com/posts/franbe...

A 'fat free' Britain by 2035? Slim chance of that It seems fair to say this government, turning one year old this week, has not yet achieved a reputation for speedy resolution of major national crises. Yet within the new 10 Year Health Plan is a radi...

"People want the government to go big on food and health, but to do so politicians must listen to their predecessors: be bold, implement fast and donโ€™t reach next election wishing you had done more."

Brand advertising exemption from advertising restrictions for less healthy food or drink This consultation seeks views on draft secondary legislation to provide an explicit exemption for brand advertising from the advertising restrictions for less healthy food or drink on TV and online.

Here we go again... The government releases the latest in a v. long line of consultations about the much anticipated - and much delayed & diluted - policy.

Three big circles filled with different brands sports sponsorships - two big ones focus on energy drinks and junk food, and a smaller one on soft drinks

Staggering number of unhealthy foods sport sponsorships in new @bmj.com report. Energy drinks football sponsorship alone grew 17% from 2023 to 24. It's a fast growing area currently untouched by regulation but govt quoted as saying they have no plans to do so.

It all should have been so simple - bring in advertising restrictions as planned.

And yet, industry's shady tactics won out yet again.

How on earth did we got here? Listen in to find out.

Huge thanks to @foodfoundation.bsky.social for giving me the opportunity to share this wild story.
